Mine is ordered through Alexandria and they've been great so far. Once I actually go to pickup we'll see how that goes.

Ok that’s great to help visualize it. Now I’m waiting to see if it’s included on Canada-bound 23s; the UK configurator appears to include it as well, though without the “industrial socket adapter” that allows charging at “up to 11 kW.”

Funny because I have a friend who wanted a MINI, but they were so turned off my Alexandria they bought a different car. They didn't want to sell me a car either when I went to visit them. But they responded when I asked all the local dealers what their OTD cost would be. They didn't add any excessive fees and they were the closest, so I put my deposit in there.

They do claim to be the highest volume MINI dealership in the US, but you wouldn't know it if you walk in.

I did get the slight impression that they don't "need" your buy, probably because they are so high volume. They certainly seem to have a ton of cars flowing through. Checked today and there's 32 SE's in transit on their website (all customer orders obviously, mine's listed there as well).

My MA has been more helpful than most car salespeople though, so I haven't had any complaints with them so far. Even offered to pick me up at the airport if I decide to fly up for pickup (I'm 3-4 hours away by car).

They had at least 4 in stock in 2020 and I was ready to buy. They didn't want my money and would only order a car.

I don’t own or know how to use a 3D printer, but there’s a shared file for a mounting bracket for the EVSE on Thingiverse.

11 kW is only with 3-phase AC power and the North American SEs don't have a connector compatible with 3-phase AC power. When I read 11 kW charging on the SE spec sheet in 2019, I quickly replaced my 32-Amp EVSE with a 40-Amp EVSE. Then I learned about British 3-phase charging. Now I have a commercial ClipperCreek 40-Amp EVSE with a really thick charging cable.

On bimmer.work? I didn’t notice it there, but I can’t open that site at work because the firewall blocks every element due to all the pop-ups and targeted ads and other BS. At home my firewall just blocks all the pop-ups and lets the site work. I don’t know where else to check my VIN.

Yes on Bimmer.work, guess we could say probably not getting the 240v charger?

Can you put this 40 amp flex charger charger into my 220/30 amp outlet at home.
Will the mini requist or can you change your self a lower input of amps and change the charger max 40 amp to a lower 30 amp ?
Or can I not use this L2 charger supplied with my 2023 Mini Cooper and I must buy another L2 charger with adjustable amps 16/24/32/40.

You can use the supplied flex charger with a 30 Amp outlet. To do so you will need to purchase the proper adapter. When you plug in the charger, the first thing it does is somehow test the line to determine max current. You can use it with a standard 5-15 adapter as well. They have a YouTube video that helps explain. Below is the list of adapters available in the US.

Thanks Torrey, will put it in my 220v dryer outlet in my garage with an 15-30 plug then or with an splitter to 15-50 female so the plug that comes with my 2023 cooper can fit right in , handy that this new flex charger L2 sees what max amp output is of the outlet so he can pull that instead of asking the full 220/40 amp. and trip the breaker . For now it saves me an electrician.

You might want to be a little careful with the splitter solution and use the car to limit itself to 24A. The flex charger may perform the amperage “check” by just knowing what adapter is used. If so, it might assume with a 14-50 adapter that it can pull 40 amps. But if you limit the car to 24 then you won’t need to worry.

Ok I understand so inside the car you can also request some charging inputs.
really excited the car is at port to board the ship to NY on Tuesday I hope.
Just wanted to learn about the charging part, your info is very helpful.

Yes but AFAICT it’s the same FlexCharger.

The actual EVSE brick may be the same, but the plug for the car is going to be different. North America uses J1772, but Europe (3-phase) uses Mennekes, which has two additional power lines. And since the car end of the FlexCharger is non-removable, they're essentially different.

Right I think we’re saying the same thing, though. What I meant (that perhaps didn’t come across clearly) is that both the UK and US 2023 cars are being delivered with the FlexCharger (configured for their respective markets), so it’s possible that Canadian 23s will also come with it.
