From this place: www.schmiedmann.com it was a little less than $30 for the mounts and cable hook, but shipping to the US was another $20. I tried a different place first but they canceled my order due to supply issues.
I bought mine from bmw part hub , 33 dollar plus 10 bucks shipping. Part number 61-90-5-A13-A62 takes 4 a 5 weeks.
Ordered mine from here too. I first tried to order from ECS Tuning but they ended up cancelling the order due to supply. BMW Parts Hub just emailed me letting me know these need to be ordered from Germany and it will be several weeks. Since my SE is currently at the Southhampton port (or possibly on the Tijuca) it will be some time until I get the car anyway so no big rush.
@Torrey do you recall what screws you used for the smaller piece that is affixed to the Flex case? M4 x 12mm, but was it a pointy screw? Or a machine screw (like a bolt)?
The ones that attach the small piece to the charger itself are hex head machine screws. I can pull them out and take a picture if you need.
Thanks you, no, it should be fine. The details on the Thingiverse page just say M4 x 12, but not “machine screw.”
You’ll need to get the length correct. They screw into the back of the flex charger with the heads sitting in some counter sunk holes so the whole thing can slide into the mounting bracket.
Anyone know if the Flex fast charger is weather proof/safe to use outside? I don’t have a garage and would be mounting to the side of my house in my driveway. Or would it be better to just get a grizzle charger?
I printed the file on Thingiverse and it does not work with the 2023 Charger, at least it did not work on mine. There is a lip around the mounting holes and the small part that bolts onto the charger does not compensate for the added depth. I drew up a simple wall mount so I can bolt it to the wall. I do not plan on moving it so it works for my needs. For those of you sending out Thingiverse file and paying for someone to print it, do not do it because it does not work.
If you do not plan on moving it and just mounting it on your wall, here is the one I drew and printed. I used 1-5/8" long drywall screws to attach to a wood sheet in my garage. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5424805 The view on Thingiverse does not show the other side that has the correct depth for the charger.
I’m not sure I understand the difference though. Does that mean the OE BMW brackets are different now as well?
The way the two piece bracket works is the smaller part is screwed onto the charger and slides onto the wall plate, this makes it easily removable from the wall. On the charger I got, there is a deeper recess so the smaller part does not stick out far enough to slide onto the wall mount. You can probably make the Thingiverse part work with longer screws and about a 1/4" of spacers between the charger and the small part. I was lazy since all I had for metric screws were M4X16 so I found it easier to CAD a simple bracket and print it since I have both CAD and a 3D printer at home (I am an engineer). Plus, I do not plan on carrying the charger with me in the car so I just drew a non-removable wall mount plate for my garage. If I was at work, I can design a better removable style bracket and machine it on my CNC but I doubt there would be a huge market for one.
Has anyone else in the US not received both? Picking my SE up now, and it only has the flexible fast charger.
Well crap! I am picking mine up tomorrow and I was hoping to get both. :-( Sent from my iPhone using Inside EVs
