I even tried calling ASK MINI today and was disconnected before talking to someone. My patience is super thin.... lol
I finally got my production number this morning from the dealer. They definitely dropped the ball. On the "track my Mini" page, I am on the 3rd-to-last checkmark: "In Transit". The rest are greyed out. Is there any way to go back and find out when the car hit each of those milestones?
Oh, also I noticed something weird. The details say I have the Signature+ trim (which is what I ordered), but then says I have the 8.8" touchscreen. MiniUSA says that the 8.8" is only for the Iconic trim, and the Signature/Signature+ have a 6.5" screen. Did that change somewhere along the way?
Yeah that's really behind and gives me no hope my car made it on the ship. Next one is tomorrow and even then it won't be here before the end of 2020. I admit it's disappointing to me since I had some hope I could claim the tax credit this year. Now it will be 15 months... ugh.
I never noticed that on mine. It is supposed to be 6.5" not 8.8" but mine is showing 8.8" too. Btw your dealer might have some info for you to help you backtrack.
I don't know of any way to back-track on that linear graph to see those milestones. It wouldn't be difficult to design a better system. Why can't they just email the graph to the customer each time a milestone is reached? And don't use the same bullet for both the Southampton port and the destination port! AFAIK, the 8.8" screen is still an Iconic exclusive.
Yes - I just double checked the USA order site - still shows 8.8" only on iconic. I was hoping there had been a quiet trim change...
ASK MINI had no idea why my car was not on a ship yet. Next step is to have my dealer contact and find out. The rep was surprised I wasn't on a ship yet since it arrived at port on the 29th. When my dealer calls me back I'll ask about the 8.8" screen too since mine shows the same.
I actually have the opposite problem. I'm not sure I will owe $7500 in taxes for 2020 between the COVID-19 tax relief program and some other tax refunds. In 2021, I will almost certainly owe more than $7500. I will post here with what I end up getting. I'm happy with the 6.5", but I won't complain if I get the 8.8". I don't need a huge screen; I'm more interested in driving the Mini Cooper than looking at a touch screen.
Wanna switch? Our tax liability didn't dramatically change this year. So I could take yours and you mine and we'd come out ahead lol Just kidding of course. I am pushing with the dealer to close prior to the end of 2020 Honestly 6.5" screen is fine for me. I don't even care about touchscreen. I'm so used to using my Mini without
For our electric cars we convert IRA savings to Roth IRAs to create a taxable event sufficient to claim the $7,500 federal EV tax credit. We'll never have to pay taxes on those converted savings. Also, the government doesn't require people to start withdrawing Roth IRA bucks at age 70-1/2.
Dealer said they are consolidating ship deliveries more so they are seeing a longer wait at port. Spouse is cool with not getting the money back this year. Hopefully by my birthday. Dealer will not do closing of deals until car is being delivered. So I wait...
I'm pretty sure the 6.5" is a touch screen in the SE as well. The touch screen is very, very handy for CarPlay. One of the reasons I went Iconic is to get the bigger screen, but then it turns out CarPlay doesn't work fullscreen. It'll be great if you get a feature bump. With the bigger screen you can do a split screen and see two things at once.
I believe you are right that the smaller screen is also a touch screen. I just meant that either way I care more about enjoying the scenery outside the car than the screen inside. My Bolt has a 10.2” screen which is great for CarPlay. But the Bolt is more of an appliance anyway when compared to the SE. Sent from my iPhone using Inside EVs
Gave the spreadsheet some updates today. Tried to fill in some of the data gaps. Moved the delivered Minis to the bottom section. Plugged in a few arrays so we get some more information on what people are picking and how long it's taking to deliver. I even made a tab for simplistic viewing and estimating how long it's going to take to deliver your MINI once the dealer orders. Updated Formatting. Etc. Here is your most common Mini SE ordered: Going to: Texas Trim Line: Iconic Exterior Color: Enigmatic Black Interior Color: Chesterfield Leather w/ Satellite Grey Wheel Choice: Power Spoke (PS THESE ARE $2k EXTRA AFTER SALE) Port of Entry: PHMPOA - Oxnard, CA Most Popular Dealership: Portland, OR Amount of Tracked Mini SE's Delivered: 25 Minis Ordered not Delivered Yet: 8
Even the signature base models come with the 6.5" Carplay & Bluetooth compatible touch screens. You can't get jipped on quality as you are already ordering a "flagship" product that BMW/Mini wanted to give lots of attention.
Ah - another stats person. Looks good! (I am also tracking some charts here if you want double check our results - https://www.insideevsforum.com/community/index.php?threads/mini-stats-trim-choices-production-and-delivery-times-shared-album.9747/ )
Any thoughts on how to figure out why my car has been in port so long and others who have arrived at port before mine have taken off already? I'm honestly kinda ticked off right now.
I think you're basically at the mercy of the shipping company's logistics. When I was in a similar situation, I called 1-866-ASK-MINI and spoke to a representative. They advised me to ask my dealership, as they said that sometimes the dealership "has a contact" in the shipping company they can talk to. My dealership just gave me the "COVID is slowing everything down" response, and that all their orders were similarly taking longer. You might try contacting your dealership to see if they can help--especially if this gives them a chance to close another sale before the end of the year.
