From all owners who have posted their experience so far, perhaps a dozen, it seems that once you're past the break-in stage, perhaps 7,000 miles (or 10,000 km) the wear particles have already been ground down to a relatively-benign size, thanks to the unwitting actions of the bearings and gears. Ideally the magnetic plug would be installed from new and you'd avoid all that unnecessary wear and added risk of future problems.
But running clean oil is never a bad thing and so the bottom line is to do the work as soon as it's convenient.
