Kona Electric 2022 Wireless Charger Not Charging

Me either. From reading the manual, it seems that the digital key and wireless charging are connected, and the digital key isn’t available/set up (so says my dealer - can’t get the Bluelink set up either just yet - still working on it. These are good guys, so I’m biding my time for a bit…a couple more weeks…). As for getting to the set up, in the Convenience menu on my display, Wireless Charging isn’t even listed as an option, but I got the Limited model of the 22 Kona (which includes wireless charging). I’ll check which software model is running on my set up tomorrow and post an update.

Update - here’s a pic of the software version:

I may have been the fellow who posted about finding and turning on the wireless charging pad.

I found my settings through the steering wheel. Paging through the screens to find user settings.

Hopefully this will help.

Edited to upload more photos.

Hi. I have a 2022 Kona and the settings mentioned in this thread for setting up wireless charging do not exist. Anyone else have this issue and found a solution? Thanks!

You have seen posts #11 and #21?

Thor, they absolutely do exist as I posted in #11 with a picture, but maybe your car does not have this feature in your region, or on your model. Surlycat confirms the convenience menu in #21 but does not have the wireless option showing in the region where they live. They have the series II model like you are talking about. On my series II the default setting on is on and the phone charges when it is in place and the orange light glows.

Hi: I live in Canada. The charging pad and indicator exist but there is not an option to turn on wireless charging in the "convenience" menu. There are no menu options for wireless charging and it is not n the manual or the index. Yet the car was sl with the promotion that wireless charging exists. I will contact Hyundai Canada to find out. It's disappointing that this feature is missing. Thanks for your comments and tips.

Seeing as the newer MY22 models have the enable/disable selection (or they are supposed to) in the center screen, obviously this was overlooked in the media software installation.
The newer media/nav software updates in the MY 2021 are plagued with issues as discussed in detail in this forum, so I suspect this may be a "recently discovered" one, and your approach to contact customer service is probably a wise one. Canada:

Maybe attach a copy of the picture supplied by @John Lumsden post #11 and 13;)

Thank you! I have opened a ticket and sent the photos as you suggested. Cheers!

Thanks, John. I see the menu that you sent me, but the "Wireless Charging System" option is missing. I spoke with Hyundai and they said they have never seen this, but they said they will reach out to Hyundai.

Ok - so this happened today (see below) and I wonder if it's related to our missing Wireless Charging issue. Note: I am not car tech savvy, so be patient if this is not relevant…

Attempted to activate the Bluelink today, but going into the Bluelink set-up/activate menu. An error message: “Wireless antenna not connected - contact your dealer” briefly popped up before the message reverted to “Contact Bluelink…”

1) I don’t know how these wireless charging pads work from a OEM install standpoint, but from what I’ve read, it seems they should be connected to the 12volt outlet somehow…does this error message suggest that maybe it isn’t…
2) Not sure why the wireless charging pad might be referred to an an antenna - is that just weird software speak, or a translation issue, or…

Just trying to problem solve this wireless charging issue in these 2022 Kona EVs sold with it listed as a convenience.

As for activating Bluelink, good grief…that’s a whole other level of incompetence and confusion - and not on my part. [emoji51]

I am having the same issue. Wireless charging option was there in the console convenience menu when I bought the car just over a month ago. I turned it off because it was making my phone really hot. In the meantime I had issues activating Blue Link and had to open a ticket with Hyundai support. They were finally able to get that working. This week, I got a new phone and wanted to try wireless charging again and the option was gone. I called support and they were no help they just looked at the manual (which I had already done) and said they couldn't help. They said I will have to take it into the dealership. Anyone else get this issue resolved?

EBRP, I took my Hyundai to the dealership and it turns out the cable was not plugged in, that is why my wireless charger did not show up on the menu through the console. If your menu option does not show up in the console then the cable is not plugged in.

Thanks for the reply. I don't know how the cable could have come unplugged unless it's a really loose connection. The off/on option was there a month ago I haven't unplugged anything and nobody has touched the car since I bought it.

Hi:

My dealer determined that the entire wireless charge pad was defective. The part is on back order with no ETA.
Incidentally there is NO option to enable or disable wireless charging in the 2022 models. I hope this helps. Cheers

I have the 2022 Kona. The pad worked when I bought it. The option to disable was there because I used it to disable the pad. When I wanted to re-enable it the option was no longer there.

I just bought a 2022 EV Limited trim a couple weeks ago. Initially, the wireless charging pad worked fine. It stopped working after 4 days! Like others, I also don't have a charging pad on/off option on the convenience menu... not in the instrument cluster or the infotainment system. I'm scheduled for a Hyundai service appointment on Saturday to troubleshoot / repair. I'll report back.

Was in to Hyundai the other day RE: this issue (and others, brake clicking sound, winter tire swap, backup camera not working properly). I don't think they even tested it and said it was probably an issue with a case on my phone or credit cards attached to the back of my phone. Neither of which are the case as I use a skin on my phone and not a case and cards stay in my wallet. Told them this when I picked it up and said they would look into it and get back to me.

brake clicking sound,
I was informed the other day, "waiting for remedy from Hyundai" even though on my previous 2018 build the issue was fixed by pad replacement and new clips on the rear calipers:

No need for VESS as all is that required is to apply the brake pedal. One would think Hyundai has figured this one out by now including the MY 2022 but...apparently not:confused:
Sorry, didn't mean to drift OT
