Will the IRS $7,500 tax credit be around in 2022?

I guess you'd have to go to the dealers' websites to find out what trim levels those SEs are? The second one cites a price drop, so nobody wanted it for $37K. Because the $7,500 tax credit isn't available with these expensive used SEs, instant availability seems to be the only reason to get one.

I hate the ol' Bate and Switch. I called 4 dealers across the country that had a new SE listed and with a picture of the actual car (not a stock photo). All 4 were of course sold and they needed to update the internets. But they would be happy to order one for me....

I checked out the Chili Red one and it's definitely not an Iconic (6.5" display is indisputable), but is priced about the same with over 8,000 miles on it. Considering no EV rebate, that's over a $10,000 premium for a used car.

Our SEs are insanely holding value so far. This is what cars.com thinks about the price:

If the US sets a $3,500 break-point at 40 kWh, then 40 kWh will become the smallest battery any company puts into a BEV. If MINI stretches the Oxford-built SE a few more years, expect the boot to grow an 8 kWh lump.

It may not be as big of a growth as it sounds though. The battery tech in the current SE is a generation old. Put the latest generation in and it may be similar size and weight.

Getting close to pulling the trigger on ordering a SE. If we do, obviously it will not arrive in 2021. Anyone have any insight on if the the IRS tax credit for 2022 will still be at $7,500 and if the SE will still qualify based on number of units produced?

Thanks,
TDS
I highly recommend you contact the Mini dealers in your area. They are getting a steady trickle of SEs. We got our SE by putting a deposit on one that was in route to one of the dealers here. We then cancelled the one we had had on order for months.

That's what we did. Early August order to Mid October delivery.

The infrastructure bill is now law, so we should be seeing a large build-out of charging locations. The new EV incentives are in the other bill, so that's still up in the air.
