Why aren't there more j01 vs f56 reviews?

I probably know the answer, however there are really only a handful which even mention our trusty F56. In most cases they just quote old figures, or keep on about the range. A few are honest enough to at least say the j01 isn't as much fun.

Will the official channels get in trouble if they say this? I suppose having a video on YouTube where the new car lost to the old one, especially as iit isn't a "proper" EV would be embarassing. Anyone found a good comparison? I'll even take the ones where they nobble the F56 with 16 inch winter tyres vs track tyres on the j01. I've driven a j01 and wasn't impressed, but I didn't think about bringing a camera with me (silly).

Well, we here in good old USA land don't even get the J01 or the Aceman either. What stuns me about the J01 is its weight, an extra 300kg for ~20 more kW of battery. Harry's Garage on Youtube has reviewed both albeit separately, but he does refer back to the F56 SE when reviewing the J01.

Electrifying did a comparison of the JCW Aceman with a Smart #3 and noted the ~250hp going to the front wheels of the Aceman seemed a bit too much at times.

With all the drag-race videos on YouTube, why isn't there one with the new and old MINI SEs fighting it out?

I'm still peeved that Motorweek's host and F56 MINI (gas) owner John Davis didn't do a full test of the F56 MINI Cooper SE when it was new. They do 0-60 and quarter-mile runs for dumpy SUVs, why not for the SE?

Here's an F56 MINI Cooper SE owner trying out the J01:

Personally with the Neue Klasse platform around the corner, I don't really want to spend my hard earned money on a J01. For me, the only thing that would make me consider switching the F56 BEV is bidirectional charging. That would probably insulate me from any changes to the solar PV feed-in-tariffs as net metering is slowly dying off.

I can live with the camera based cruise control and crummy homelink on the F56 compared to the J01.

If the powers that be at BMW NA have any say in it, it's possible an NAx-based two/three door MINI hatch comes here to pick up the F56 SE's legacy. I'm not handing over the fobs to my F56 any time soon, though. The low-mileage 2018 Crosstrek has long legs and should serve us well for a while, but at 10 years I'll start nosing around. An NAx J03 replacement might be on our watchlist by then.

I would really like an Aceman for the extra cargo space, mostly for my dogs. But I don't know if I could ever part with my F56 SE without it dying. It's still so fun to drive, and I'm more convinced than ever it will be a collector EV.

I've wondered this as well. I understand the J01 not being here in the US, but the F56 was available in other markets where the J01 is now. Give us some comparisons!
