I went to my local MINI dealership in Richmond VA, Crown MINI, and they had no SEs for sale, nor any schedule to get any. In addition, they couldn’t find any cars available within 200 miles to transfer to their dealership. I’m looking for any color with the Iconic trim level.

Has MINI suspended shipments to the US?

They haven't sold new Mini EVs (SE) in maybe years. They have tons of ICE. Clubmans can be had in an EV.

BMW wanted to reduce the cost of manufacturing the MINI Cooper SE, so they partnered with Great Wall Motor to build a MINI factory in Zhangjiagang, China. After Joe Biden slapped a 100% tariff on Chinese EVs in 2024, it became cost-prohibitive to sell that new Z01 MINI Cooper SE in North America. Canada could import them, but they don't.

As far as I know, Canada followed the US and imposed 100% tariff on Chinese cars as well. However, lately, there are voices in Canada to demand Canadian government to reduce the tariff and start importing Chinese cars.

You're right. I now see Canada imposed a similar 100% tariff on Chinese EVs and hybrids.

You meant Countryman.

J01 (which is available in Mexico).

CuriousGeorge, correct, Countryman SEs… not the 2-door coupe. Sorry, I need to add this question to the correct forum.

My dealer is desperate to get us into a Countryman SE. There is no way I am giving up our SE for it. Given the state of EV market and its imploding in NA, I will keep this car forever

I'm so glad MINI didn't sacrifice light weight to offer greater range. I feel so lucky to have the perfect EV! For me, it's the ideal size with the best blend of the old and new: Switches, instrument panel, leather, opening sunroof, quickness, stealth, and charging at home.

Customizing MINIs is allowed, so I changed the hood to make it even perfecter.

A higher density battery pack isn’t out of the question either. I reached out to a chinese company and I wasn’t the first

I drove the Countryman SE around the autocross track. It felt big and heavy, as expected. If I want to drive big and heavy, I take my wife's Q4 e-tron.
