What should Domenick buy? Post your recommendations.

I would recommend looking at a used Kona. Especially if you can find one that hasn't had the battery replaced yet. Then get the battery replaced under recall and you have a practically new EV. Plus if you can find one under $25k you can get the $4k tax credit.

Rare, look for an end-of-lease, 2016 BMW i3-REx:
  • Affordable purchase price about $20,000.
  • Lightest weight, most efficient before subsequent model year, BMW bloat.
  • Even used, 72 mi EV range very likely.
  • Range Extender 1.8-2.3 gallon gas tank adds 90 miles at 70 mph and 39 MPG.
  • Excellent side and rear access.
  • Good options: 2” receiver hitch, 2 gallon spare gas can fits in frunk, range extender tuning potential.
  • Very clever owners in forums.
Weak areas:
  • 50 kW max CCS-1 charge rate
  • 25-30k tires
  • BMW (Bring More Wampum) maintenance and parts

The bottom one is like my wife's 2014 but a year later and about 20,000 fewer miles.

2013 BYD e6 located in Chicago!
BYD imported cars for a pilot with Uber. Apparently some made it to the used market.

Thanks for the suggestion and sharing. I remember around this time BYD saying it was selling cars in the US, and I believe it was also at this Green Wheels Chicago place. I just followed the link to take a look and was surprised to see that used E6. I wanted to share with a friend who might be interested, but when I Google the place it says permanently closed. I called and got a machine with no mention of Green Wheels in the message.
I emailed them from the site just in case the lights are stillon somewhere.
