What did you do to your MINI today?

Ok and? This sub is an echo chamber “Mini SE never break” Source same 20 people. Evaporator leaks on BMWs and modern 1234yf systems are pretty common. The old style shifter failed all the time. Did the other A/C stuff need to be replaced? Probably not but I am not paying for it so what do I care?

You just want to continuously argue.
I spend way too much time on MINI forums. First time I have ever heard of the issues you have encountered. Make of that what you will

When I brought mine in for its yearly dealer visit I did comment on the steering clunk. The service advisor said he knows about the issue and his solution was to simply "work out" the steering column adjust. Basically, release the steering column adjust lever and work it through its range of motion many times. This will distribute the grease in the adjustment linkage and fix the issue. Indeed, when I got the car back the clunking was gone and the steering is smooth again.

Incidentally, they did mess up my brake fluid flush though. Somehow they got air into the system so I ended up with a rather spongy brake pedal. Had to bring it back and have the repeat the flush. Not great but glad they made it right quickly.
I brought my ‘23 in last week, 2 days short of the four year warranty expiring, for a look at the clunk. They “adjusted the steering wheel.” Glad to read what they actually did—thanks jwzimm! Worked like a charm—the clunk is gone.

Also will confess that while I always change brake fluid every 2 years on other cars, I did not do it on this visit. My brake pads after 18k miles have lost <1mm from new, and I never use the brakes enough to warm the fluid even a little (so it never pushes warm fluid into the reservoir, and later sucks back cool into the system). With little to no fluid from the reservoir sucking into the system, it’s hard to see how any water from the air might even get in.

I feel better having confessed…

I checked my brake fluid using one of the paper moisture tests. After 2 years since the last fluid change, it read the lowest moisture reading on the test.
