Never been a fan of chrome on a white car so I invested in $12 of car vinyl wrap and checked if I could teach myself. I knew the multi-edge corner would be the toughest part so I started there. On the third try it was not to bad. Will look at it for the next few weeks and if I still like it will buy more and do the rest, otherwise peel it off.

Ran it real hard for the first time.
Approx. 4700 miles on on the ODO, had an important event to attend and was late. Sport mode; used EV to get out of town, mostly 75-85mph interstate in HV mode with 75% SOC and 75-80mph rural two lane with fairly light traffic but enough that I needed several "pedal to the metal" high speed passing events (ironically a few were trucks building windfarms). Barely heard the ICE over wind/road/tire noise when floored.

Good to know you made it, and hopefully no tickets in your wallet. Were you able to take any mpg readings at all?

Well those are somewhat meaningless to me as I don't know how Honda is calculating the blend of HV and EV modes during a trip. Are they using 999+mpg when in EV or the EPA's 110mpg(e) metric? I suspect the former like GM did with Volt. Anyways, I did glance at them and the first one with more EV and a light tailwind was like 61mpg and another was 57mpg. Legs were about 80 miles each way. Used EV in small towns and low speed zones (under 55mph), arrived home with about 4 miles EV left. Great, smooth ride left me refreshed.

I notice the engine is not loud at all under high power. I think the noisy events that people experience and that I briefly had once are situations where for some reason it feels that it has to charge the battery at a high rate while supplying power to the wheels at the same time. But just flooring it, at least briefly, doesn't cause that.
Agree on not trusting dash mpg data, to me that's all mumbo jumbo. Now some people have essentially calibrated it by measuring actual kWh used and measuring actual gas used and comparing that to the gauges. That's great but I'm not going to do that. I've pretty much given up on measuring anything with this car other than keeping track of gas purchases just so I can tell people how much gas I use per month which seems to impress people, which isn't my intention but that's always what they want to know (that and how long does it take to charge it). In my mind I don't know what I am really saving because I don't know the actual cost of the electricity that went into the car. Oh I know the electric rate I mean I don't know exactly how much electricity went into the car other than doing some reverse engineering calculations based on miles driven and estimated mpg, or logging all of my charge sessions. Haven't gotten around to doing that yet, maybe never will.

I bought mouse pads and tuned one upside down do the grippy side is up. Trimmed to fit and since it's black you can't see it. Works great! And I have two mouse pads to use.

Great to bring this up, might as well take a couple bucks out of Amazons pocket and put it into one of your choice. I'm a long time smile user.
Installed Honda Hack. Haven't messed around with it much yet but did use it to remove the "warning/OK" start up screen on the center display was worth the price alone.
Please report back after you've used it for a couple of days! I should be receiving my 2018 Clarity in a couple weeks and am also very interested in Honda Hack.

Honda makes a non-slip insert for the central tray, part number 08P10-TRV-110 and can be found online for just over $20. Not saying it looks or works better than making your own but it does fit exactly and looks like original equipment. Robert_Alabama has one you can look at his second photo in post #20.

FWIW, I bought the Honda “non-slip” insert and it’s so non-nonslip that it was a waste of $. You’re much, much better off with the mouse pad, shelf liner, silicone pad, or other fix.

When I first got it I thought by mistake they sent the original replacement part because it didn't feel like a nonskid surface. But it is and the phone definitely stopped sliding around like it did before so for me it works fine.

It only goes in one way. It's not really a mat it's a shallow tray that fits exactly into that space, in fact it fits so well that it's sort of hard to get back out, although I don't know why you would ever need to. it's made of what seems to be some type of hard rubber, not grippy but not as slick as the plastic section that it sits on top of.
You just need to quit taking corners so fast

1. Washed the salt off. It sits low, and is really easy to wash compared to my old Outback.
2. Debadged the "H" on the back glass. I removed the "Plug-In Hybrid" badges from both sides a few days after I bought it, but couldn't decide about the rear. I may end up putting the "H" back on, as the glass looks a little bare with nothing. Or maybe removing the "Clarity" letters from the bottom left rear, and relocating them to the bottom of the rear glass in a "stretched" version, much like the Lightyear One.
I believe it would work, as there are no heating elements at the bottom of the glass. So many things to love about this car. It feels like a science experiment.
