Video describing charging standards

This is timely for me. I just learned of the option to select connection types when searching for EV chargers in Google Maps. They list CCS Combo 1 and CCS Combo 2 in the options. I chose both options, but I am unsure if only one or both should work on my Niro EV.

Type 1 is really North America. Type 2 is Europe. Which oversimplifies a lot, but in any one country you will only find one or the other.

The main difference is that in Europe, they support using 3-phase power for AC charging, so the basic J plug needed 2 more connectors, and it needed to be made larger to account for this. By the time this design change was being made, the type-1 was already deployed in enough places in the U.S. that they decided to stick with that, and very few homes in the U.S. have 3-phase power.

So, here's a new installation here in NZ with (2) Type 2 and (1) Type 1. Australia has even more of a mix from what I've seen.
