Valve adjustment

Yeah, I agree it's definitely tickier when cold, but that's true with almost any engine, and considering how the engine is designed I would be surprised if it didn't tick when cold.

My engine doesn't get a lot of use, and it's extremely quiet, so every oil change I do the song and dance of hearing how much it ticks in maintenance mode and then obsessively comparing it to recordings online.

It is very much a sewing machine engine noise, but I believe that is normal, especially for a Honda.

I personally think scifi blender better describes it. I honestly quite like the sound of it though.

I enjoy that I never hear it while driving. I usually only know it is operating because of the screen.
So bizarre how some people here say they can't hear it, some way it's really loud. I personally can hear the engine up to about 35 or so if accelerating relatively slowly, at a normal battery SoC.

My driving is almost all electric. I really only use the engine on the highway.

If I turn off my music, I can hear it below 45 mph (the "gear icon" direct engagement speed), but it's still very quiet. My previous car was a gen 2 Toyota Prius, and it was both louder from road/wind noise and had a louder engine.

I will say, when I was driving up huge mountains in southern West Virginia, the engine was louder.
