Hello,

New owner here. I bought my Clarity PHEV a couple of weeks ago. So far, it is the only car that I love.
Sometimes, I will have to drive into Manhattan. Street parking there can be very difficult. So, the only option is valet parking in a garage. Is there a way to secure the trunk from the valet?

You could disable the solenoid that opens the trunk and change the trunk lock to use a different key.

Wait. I can't remember, does the Clarity have a mechanical key-lock on the trunk? It's raining so I'm not going to go outside to check.

I’ll be there at 3:00pm. Will it still be raining?

Key lock is left rear inside behind headrest.

It would take a very savvy valet to know where that non-obvious trunk lock is. So all one would have to do is disable the solenoid that electrically opens the trunk. Perhaps a switch could be installed in the trunk to disable the solenoid. Then the key could be removed from the fob before surrendering the car to a valet.
