I need load sharing, L2 chargers, and use Tom's 2024 list:
I have both a Tesla and BMW i3. The Tesla handles long range trips and the BMW is my urban driver. My Tesla travels with both a J1772 and CCS-1 adapter and charges everywhere. The BMW is J1772 and CCS-1 only ... much less flexible except at Tesla "magic dock" stations.
I'm open to suggestions about these or any L2 chargers that have:
- AUTEL MAXICHARGER - web site shows them "Sold Out" although Amazon claims to have them for the same price. So then I tried to find the Installation and Operations (O&M) manual and only found what read like a "quick start" guide.
- WALBOX PULSAR PLUS 48 - the web site made it sound good but again, the O&M was another thin guide, 19 pages in English and the rest, non-English versions. No configuration instructions on the configuration other than use the App.
- TESLA UNIVERSAL WALL CONNECTOR - a 58 page, O&M manual, that fully describes how to wire it up to either split-phase 240 VAC residential or three-phase 208 VAC commercial power. As for load sharing, everything from a single, 60 A circuit, daisy chaining chargers, to equalizing the load with multiple ones across three phases. The quality of the O&M manual details are close to a text book on how to install and operate them. The only weakness is a reference to the Commercial software version which I can only access after I get my residential one installed.
- To avoid power parasites and charger hogs, we need to operate during business hours and limit sessions to 1 hr or the equivalent kWh. The JuiceBox 40 Pro had these capabilities.

- Load sharing - so a single 40-60 A, 240-208 VAC, circuit can be shared.
- Operational hours - to avoid power parasites parking all night.
- Charge session limits - to avoid charger hogs monopolizing them.
- Quality documentation before purchase!
