I just reach forward and put my index finger in the hook to pull the seat back.

I think the trunk area has the most hidden features:
  • The rear floor has two levels and can be removed completely.
  • When the rear floor is in the higher setting, the removable rear parcel shelf fits under it.
  • The rear seats can be latched into place with more tilt forward to give you a bit more cargo space.
  • There is another small cargo box at the very bottom of the floor and the owner's manual fits perfectly in it.
Surprising features are:
  • Seatbelts don't have height adjustment. Short drivers beware!
  • Climate controls can't change the temperature on the left and right at the same time.
  • Auto-dimming on the instrument cluster is really annoying if you have tinted windows. You can make it better with changes with Bimmercode but it still does it.
  • Sport mode gives you more power. I thought it would just tighten up the steering but using a 0-60 app, it is about 1 second quicker to 60 with sport mode.
  • You can disable the pedestrian warning sound with Bimmercode in Drive but it won't remember this setting in Reverse. You can toggle it back on and then off for it to turn off the sound in Reverse.

I'm 5' tall and I use my index finger too. I figure if I can grab it most able-bodied people can. Those with limitations will likely need a much longer strap to pull back. They sell a lot of plain black nylon straps you can adjust. Though I'd personally add a snap in just in case you ever have to use it for a car seat.

No issues honestly on the height of the seatbelt unlike some cars.

I was ready to argue this, but I tested first and you're right. I don't think our 2019 Clubman will turn it off automatically, and it made me think both cars were that way.

I use this faux seat belt clip all the time, when I want to leave my wife in the SE with the "engine running."

By unbuckling my seat belt and then inserting the clip, before opening my door, the car stays in drive ready mode, allowing the radio, AC, and all accessories to be on indefinitely.

Assuming the car is in Park with the brake on, it would take three simultaneous independent actions (foot depress brake, thumb depress shift lever button, hand pull shift lever into gear) to make the car move, so it's perfectly safe.

Yeah I’m looking at simple cinch straps on Amazon right now (as suggested above) but I’m too lazy to run out to the garage to measure the available width in a standard seat-back tie-down.
 
One inch in the MINI. That’s handy. In the back of the Crosstrek they are almost 1¾” so I’ll get a roll of 1” double-sided hook & loop and a bunch of square rings and cut them to the different lengths.

I hear that! I'd go look too but I am also lazy. Amazon has some great options I think from a quick search.
 
I think a major tip is to adjust the Navigation elements that are shown. With Navigation map on screen, hit the "options" button (lower right of iDrive control knob). You can disable the gas stations and enable EV charging locations. At least on my 2021 SE gas stations were on and charging locations off by default. There are also lots of other types of locations you can enable.
 
Lol yeah, and meanwhile I forgot my passenger seat was too far back when I pulled on the Velcro, so when the headrest got stuck, the Velcro let go, and I punched myself in the face. o_O:D

Adding the link above to this thread. I just used bimmercode to get rid of the entry seatbelt warning, the start warning and the acoustic warning with the i3 method. Makes just getting into the car so much more enjoyable. Posting it here as I accidentally stumbled on it while searching for random upgrades.

A beeperectomy was the very first thing I did with bimmercode. Alone, it was worth the cost of bimmercode. I left a couple of beeps. Most are gone.

100%. I decided the Pedestrian Protection needs to remain active, but added the checkbox and activated a hot button (6) to turn it off when that’s actually a help — like rolling up to the CBP checkpoint today, or backing into my garage late at night.
 


Not affiliated with this guy but I bought the door trim and the bumper ppf cause of this video. In the description, there's a $20 off coupon too but shipping is a rip at $12. I did a full front PPF and my installer wanted another $200 for the trim and rear bumper guard so this is a great deal regardless.

I installed both just now and it's pretty easy. The door trim comes with 8 pieces in total (4 short, 4 long) and I used 2 of the shorts for the doors. Wrapping the bottom was a little tricky but overall the install was not bad at all. One tip is to keep a little tension on the ppf (pull it a little taut) during the installation and press down where the curves happen before you keep going so your gapping stays consistent.

Though I ordered my bottle openers long before I took delivery of my car, I used one this week for the first time when I popped into the post office to check my PO Box and wanted the heat, seat, and steering wheel to stay on. When I hopped back in the car, it didn’t recognize my fob and I had to shut down and restart anyway. That makes the whole Tikit procedure kind of pointless. I’d rather just leave it on the reduced heating via the centre display as I shut down.

You don't need to leave the car "on" to keep the heater or AC on. When you turn off the car, the radio will show an option to active comfort climate now. This will warm up or cool off the car depending on the outside temperature. You can also active this with the app. When I go to the grocery on hot days, I usually turn it on with the app before I get to the car.
 
Yes that’s what I’ve been doing all along, but as others have mentioned I was just popping in to my PO Box and wanted to leave everything running as-is, including CarPlay and the heated steering wheel. When I got back everything was running, except that I couldn’t get the car out of P because it was not recognizing the fob and I had to shut down.
