I found this Clarity EV for sale in Jacksonville, Florida. These were supposed to be lease only in California and Oregon, but somehow this one bypassed that rule. I definitely would not pay what they're asking for it. With the limited range of the EV, I would pay maybe $10K max. It looks like there might be battery degradation, it's more than halfway charged and it's only showing 36 miles, double that would only be 72. Good luck getting a replacement battery for the EV, it was never intended to be owned.

That’s interesting. The EV range estimate is a poor gauge of battery condition.

Where did you see a photo of the display?

While I wouldn't buy the Clarity BEV for other reasons, the range estimate can vary wildly by driving conditions. My PHEV in the past couple months has shown 55+ miles after a full charge, during a stretch when my son, a careful learner's permit holder, was driving mostly local roads and our under-construction 55MPH speed limit freeway that he was sticking to, with no heat, no defrost needed. I've been driving it more recently, at, um, different speeds on the highway, and using the defrost a lot the last few days -- and the range estimate is now closer to 40. That will improve greatly when no longer needing heat or defrost and temperatures go up...and when he drives it more!

So the moral of the story is, if you're selling an EV, hire my son to come drive it for a week to boost the estimated range :)

Did you click the link? It's one of the last pictures of the instrument cluster.

Yes. The first time I was only able to view the 4 photos at the bottom. Then I scrolled through the photos and was able to see the others. Maybe a browser thing, but it would only let me view the 4 photos that were displayed below the large photo.

There's a Carfax linked to the offer.

$23,000 for a car that probably won't drive straight?
No better example of a distorted marketplace exists.

You can find fully serviceable used Tesla model S for $30,000.
