Teflon Elon still rules... Looks like he will also escape this latest securities fraud case going on right now.
 
Just when the competitors thought they had him on the ropes,...then POW! Top and bottom beat, and should have another blow-out this qtr with the price reduction and full tax credit back. Margins a little thinner, but that will be made up by extra sales. And production should be in top gear now.
 
It still has a way to go to reach what I sold my last batch in 2022 to fight FED inflation fighting, interest rates.

I think you're all underestimating the degree that Musk has made himself truly despised by a large segment of the population (at least in the U.S.), to a degree that few CEOs ever achieve. Here's one example. Another is my niece, whose Hyundai Kona EV just got totalled (she's okay, happily) and who states quite emphatically that, despite the recent price cuts, the replacement vehicle will not be a Tesla under any circumstances. A dead fish will flop around for a while, and that's what Elon's company is doing.
 
I bought my 2019 Tesla Model 3 without getting a "political correctness" report from Elon Musk. With 91,000 miles, my Tesla still fully meets my expectations regardless of Musk's political or social views. So until Anne Marie Squeo or your niece make a car that competes with my Tesla, I really don't care.

I have blood kin who make Elon look like a liberal. Four years in the Marine Corps, I worked with some pretty ugly characters compared to Musk. Living in Dixie, I've had coworkers who were much worse politically (and ethically) than Elon. Let me share two examples.

I was working in an open office with half-high partitions. Yet daily I would hear a loud voice complaining about "Clinton this" or "Gun control that." But he was far enough away I could do my work. Then one day, the voice, Mike, came to my desk and said, "I hear you are a Democrat."

I replied, "Yes I am" and went back to my task.

Mike then said in a loud voice, "Well I think Democrats are Communists!"

I put my pencil down, the office got quiet, as I looked up and answered in my Marine voice, "Fair enough. I think Republicans are Facists."

You'd have thought I hit him in the face with a clue-by-for and there were a few giggles in the open office area. Mike wandered off and I got back to my work.​

The second example was several years later in another open, partition office.

I kept hearing "Obama this" and "Gun control that." There were 1-2 hours of such nonsense daily but again, back to work. I had pistol ear protectors with head phones inside to help quiet the din.

One day, I donated to the Obama campaign and the web site asked me if I would e-mail friends with their advocacy note ... I suddenly knew exactly who to send the note to but made one edit:

I don't have a charge number to discuss politics at work but hopefully you will join me in supporting Barack Obama ... <donation solicitation message.>​

I also included our supervisor who later said he almost busted a gut when he read my note. But the political buzz soon went away.​

The point is I don't discuss sex, religion, or politics with those I am doing business with. Only if they try to force their views on me do I reply. I tell them I won't discuss it at work but if they want to talk about it at lunch or after work at a bar, fine with me. The same is true for the technical forums I visit.

If someone wants to discuss Elon Musk, I'll be happy to do it face-to-face. But electronic forums are little more than bathroom stall scribblings. Too often posted by people who hide their cowardly faces (see my Avatar.)

If you, your niece, or any other Musk hater wants to break bread with me, I live in Huntsville AL. I'll be going to Tunica MS this week and later to Washington DC. I'm also planning a trip to Las Vegas and visiting my brothers in Arizona. I'd be happy to discus sex, religion, politics, and Elon Musk over lunch or at a bar ... face-to-face.

After last week's dramatic gains, a bit of a trim today: -3.99%, -$7.09 to $170.81. More broadly, the NASDAQ is down 1.76% today.
Hard to say whether this is just a hiccup in a further upward trajectory - apparently one of the negatives affecting price today is a report warning that the actual effect of the price drops on margins will only be seen at Q1's reporting - but I personally think it's likely to return to rising for a bit. Don't think it will return to historical highs with Musk staying at the helm, but there's still lots of upside for the stock.
Always an interesting stock to watch.
 
Might be due to Ford dropping Mustang Mach-e prices, and may be followed by other manufacturers. I suspect Tesla still has the hammer at this point, and the prospects of a blow-out 1st qtr could keep the stock moving up.
 
Lest there be any confusion, my opinions about Musk, Tesla and Twitter have been quite public, with my full name, for some time. Here's a recent example, which appeared in roughly 20 newspapers around the country.

Everyone is free to choose where to spend their time and money by whatever means they want. I am trying "blue" twitter to see if it is a way to share problems about Tesla products. However, I have no great expectations and will probably drop it in another two months. If I don't get any return on investment, I will drop it and that goes for Twitter too. For example, Kyle mentioned some sort of Twitter based, fast DC charger collection but not being CCS-1, it does not appeal. I don't need a 'blue bird' to be ignored. <GRINS>

I fight QAnon and MAGA-hats by donating to selected Democratic candidates. As for amoral Republican behavior, it has existed for a long, long time. For example, my first vote in 1971 was mail-in while on Okinawa Japan in the Marines against Richard Nixon. I have never voted for a Republican and at age 73, see no reason to change. But I do vote with my wallet too.

I have zero expectation that Elon's approach will change. I simply prefer not to give my money to fascists.
