I ordered it on July 10, 2018. It's been a long wait. They shipped all colors, and with cancellations, the dealer actually has come units for sale. They thought they would have to ship all cancelled orders back to Hyundai, but it seems not to be the case.

I noticed them for sale on the dealer website. There are other units for sale out in the wild too. It's pissing me off.

Yeah. They sure don't excel at customer relations. My dealer has been great, but they are annoyed at Hyundai Canada too. They had at least two cancellations. I bet the reason they don't have to ship them back is the fact that all the orders in Canada have now arrived and are currently shipping. Hopefully!!

Ha ha ha if they were to start to ship them back there would be a revolution !!!!
 
If you haven't yet picked up your Kona Electric, you may want to check out this video. It was put together by a Hyundai dealership employee (Edward, from Mertin Hyundai in Chilliwack) and he actually does a great job. I certainly learned a few things about the car and I must have watched a dozen reviews by now. The good part about it is, since it's a detailed walkaround of the Canadian version, it has the features you'll be getting.

 
My dealer called, I'm picking up my Kona Saturday p.m. They confirmed I'll be getting the Scrap-it rebate as well. I feel for the Ontario folks. I really hope the feds come through asap with some sort of relief. I've come to terms with the $50K price tag and this will be the first new vehicle I've ever bought.

I've spent time up Burnaby Mountain trying to stop the KM pipeline expansion so it's time to walk (drive?) the talk, put my money where my mouth is, go electric and get off fossil fuel. It's been more than a year since I almost bought the Bolt & decided to wait for the Kona. We need EV adoption to happen much faster & in far greater numbers if we want to limit the effects of fossil fuel generated climate change. I hope the Kona helps EVs go mainstream.

Congratulations on the car Tom. One more day and you get your car. I'm still waiting. I support the pipeline though. Yes, we need more focus on alternatives to fossil fuels, but right now we need it for petrol cars, boats, airplanes, ships that bring in our Kona's, half of the stuff we own is petroleum based. When we have alternatives to oil such solar power, tidal power, geothermal power, wind power in place I will join you on the protest line. I don't believe it is sensible to shut down KM pipeline unless we have alternatives in place right now. Our economy would collapse. I do understand that the situation is urgent concerning climate change. But having a country in a depression would not lead to the development of those alternative resources that have to be in place FIRST. Just one more opinion among many differing ones. But I am proud to be trying to do something by going to an electric car. We have driven PHEV for a few years now and we are trying to what we understand to be better for the world.

Thanks CJC. I love your enthusiasm & excitement on this forum for EVs & the Kona. That's great to hear you're upgrading from a PHEV to a full on BEV!

However, I have to politely and respectfully disagree with your comments on the pipeline, fossil fuels, alternatives and climate change. I realize this forum about EVs and I don't want to get off topic but I feel this is related. The KM protests are against the EXPANSION project - not shutting down the existing pipe. Your comments seem based on what we see on the 6 o'clock TV news, adverts from industry lobby groups (CAPP) & government press releases. I used to hold similar views. There's a lot of information out there from sources with no financial or political ties to the fossil fuel industry (I can share links if anyone wants). I urge you to seek out countervailing fact-based sources to get a better understanding of the climate situation the world faces. Most - if not all - paints a much dimmer view of the future we're facing. We really are in much worse shape than most people would believe. I'm sorry to be so negative on this topic but I feel this needs to discussed about much more openly & honestly.

Ok, that's all from the soapbox I'm done - back to the Kona - Woo-Hoo I'll have one in my driveway Saturday night! :)

Scanning the forums (outside of the Quebec launch) the furthest west delivery seems to be Calgary.

Insurance companies treat all cars differently, based on a variety of risk factors. My agent said the quote on EVs tends to run high because battery repair/replacement cost increases the overall cost of some accidents.

A few great things I noticed on the video were that there was lots of traffic noise outside when he was talking and it was gone when he got in the car so sound proofing seems good, the beeping when backing wasn't obnoxious at all, I couldn't hear the VESS when he was doing his little bit of driving, and the grey interior looked fabulous with the white. I like that the charge port door locks when car is locked (that isn't so on my PHEV).

I expect to see pictures of your car this weekend! I don't want to talk off topic anymore. Too depressing to have any conflict for my personality type. lol However I will say that the world needs more people like you even if we differ on the issue.
 
In Nanaimo six Kona EV's came in. To this day they have been sitting on the back of the lot .I called the dealership and they said that they were "waiting for the invoice to arrive from Hyundai" .Then they can be pdi prepared then they can be released.

Add one more to Alberta -- just got back from my Calgary dealer. Got the VIN; salesman claims it's on the ship. He said there were none in Calgary; I told him that my wife was sitting in one yesterday, and the dealer had another ceramic outside for test drives. And that another dealer shows two Ceramics and a red EV in stock.
