Why is that? I thought Scrap-it allocations were based on the calendar year and it's still just mid-January. I'm hoping to do the same, so now I've got some concern.
 
Like everyone else, I was disappointed by the price of the Ultimate, and it seems like it is the only model we can order so far, but the preferred is an excellent price, and when it is available, it should sell well. Hyundai is showing the price for the preferred on their web site now, but not the Ultimate, which is frustrating. I was offered more than I expected for my trade-in so I decided to go ahead with purchase, while grumbling about price! My dealer here in BC thinks they could have it by the end of the month, or very early Feb. I was quoted less than some people have posted here, maybe the shipping is less, as it should be. My quote was $53,303 including the annoying dealer administration fee.

The Canadian MSRP for the Ultimate is $51,999. You price quoted is $430 more.
MRSP for the "Preferred" model is $45,599.

Still need to add gov't taxes, delivery $1,805., admin (whatever that is :mad:). I estimated $56.2K, with Alberta taxes.

Lots of dealers quote a price which already incorporates a dealer fee. That's probably what it's reflecting.
 
Just noticed that, as mentioned, the website now shows only the Preferred MSRP but no mention of a Preferred or Ultimate trim levels as options at all. It's just the single option at the $45K price point. Looks like those of us getting Ultimates will be part of an exclusive club for at least a year! Also, they kept the same ad copy. It still lists an 8 inch touchscreen, which is (or was) exclusive to the Ultimate. Unless they changed the Preferred specs, it's wrong. I also noticed that the current specs for the Ultimate do not include a cloth headliner which was part of the Ultimate when I purchased. I hope it's on my build beause, at a $6k spread over the Preferred it already had a very small list of "upgrades". For that kind of money I want every scrap they promised!

I agree that this company is in disarray when it comes to this car and I also agree that I also want everything that was promised because this is one expensive car .

Regarding Scrap-it, I am no expert, so if one of you have the facts then please chime in here. As far as I can tell, the dealers get a few coupons at a time. If the dealer gets 10 cars at the same time and all buyers are applying for a Scrap-it, the first 2 or 3 people would get their coupons and 7 or 8 people would go without until the next Scrap-it distribution. So the coupon needs to be available within 30 days of the car sale. Otherwise the car would need to sit unsold until the next coupon is available. Hyundai are likely aware of this and put charge backs in place to prevent cars from sitting on the floor. This incentive program is too bloody convoluted.
 
Does anyone know what kind of charger the car will come with as far as an emergency charger? My Volt has a 120v 12amp charger that is also capable of 240v (with a patch cord to adapt). I believe the Nissan Leaf had a cord (or at least the option) that will 120v or 240nat a reasonable rate. Just curious for traveling!

According to the brochure it comes with a level 1 charger which is a 12Amp 120Volt household type connector.

I think this week's going to be a big week!
That media event is scheduled for Tuesday in Quebec. That will be the first "official" Canadian delivery. I think after that, the floodgates will open and we'll all get our delivery dates for the next few weeks.

Unfortunately, I still haven't received a VIN from my sales person yet. She did say it would take 2-3 week and it's only been one. This is where the nervous, excited anticipation kicks in!

I don't think this is necessarily a bad thing. It would be great if it came with BOTH 120/240 Volt chargers. I see a situation where you may be stuck somewhere during bad weather or an emergency and the only electricity you'll have access to is a regular household plug. I'd rather some charge than no charge at all.
Not many people/houses/businesses I know have a 240 volt plug easily accessible.

I'll likely be purchasing a 40 amp plug-in JuiceBox charger for home use and keep the 120 volt Hyundai one in the car for emergencies or if I stay at friends houses etc.

Some people don't realize that you CAN actually survive on just a 120 volt charger! Personally I am between homes so I don't want to invest in the level 2 station just yet, (and most new homes are now pre-wired for EV charging stations) so I did some calculations using this really nice online charging calculator that works for all EVs:

So for example, lets say you travel about 50km per day, well you can recuperate those 50km in about 5hrs (give or take) using a 120v wall socket found in any home or garage. (@ 1.4 Kw). So basically just plug in the car when you get home (or overnight to get better rates). You can even drive 100km/day and still get that back in roughly 10 hrs. Another way to look at it is with the range we are getting, you can also charge over the weekend if you don't drive much - and have enough juice to get you by for the entire week. With this range you can treat it like a ICE vehicle having a weekly fill-up.

In order to convince my friends who just don't understand EVs, they need to wrap their head around the fact that with EVs you are leaving your home with a "full tank" every morning - because you have your own "gas stations" in your garage!

So no need to immediately rush out and get that level 2 charger installed.... 400-500 Km range makes a huge difference - this car will be a game changer.

I've heard these arguments so often from EV naysayers always worried about range. Invariably they are the same people who drive around on "empty" all the time without a care in the world!

I agree! I usually charge my Chevy Volt right up because the range is only around 85km and I live out of town so I want to run as cheap as possible. It really depends on your situation and how far you will be driving. The nice thing about the Level 2 is that I can plug in when I get home in the morning (I am a shift worker so usually home at 7:15am after a shift) and have a full charge in a fairly short amount of time for anything I need to do during the day. When I am off shift I charge off peak at night!

I am looking forward to more range so I can charge more off peak than I already do!
