Surge protection for Level 2 EVSE

If there are power surges / spikes when an EV is charging on a level 2 EVSE at a residence, is the EV at any risk? Would a protector like the Siemens FS140, mounted at the panel, provide any protection? Would it provide adequate protection? For me, the context is the US electrical system.
 
The vehicle should be fine, the whole point of the EVSE is to provide a stable flow of electricity.

I had a power outage while my car was plugged in but not inside the charge window. Unbeknownst to me the EVSE (Grizzl-E classic) didn't restart properly when power returned, so my vehicle didn't charge. Resetting the circuit breaker restored the EVSE to normal and my EV was unaffected. The lesson I learned is to check on charge status after a power outage.
 
Thanks, but the question is really about voltage spikes / power irregularities rather than about outages. So, it is about damaging power conditions rather than availability.
