Splash Guards

I put a set on mine. I bought them from College Hills Honda. They don’t stick out very much at all - I honestly thought they wouldn’t even do anything. But they do keep the car looking much cleaner when it rains. Before I would get all the spray patterns up the side of the car when driving after it rained.
 
The instructions made my eyes glaze over once I saw the words "Using a utility knife, cut out the left rear inner fender as shown."

How complicated was the rear install to complete?

Ok. Now, I'm scared. I just purchased a set of the guards and they should be delivered by the end of the week.

I'm the least handy person I know and have been known to cause serious injury to myself with sharp objects.
 
I was also a little nervous about the masking tape and cutting instructions. I did neither. I used an awl to poke the holes, slid the clips in and screwed the self tapping screws in. It was a lot easier than the instructions made it out to be. 25 min in the cold for me. I’ll send Picts when my wife returns from her road trip with the car

When you use advanced technical words like "awl," I know you're a lot more experienced than me!
 
I attached the splash guards as was previously suggested here without removing the bumper without removing the small area of inner fender.

Clarity PHEV would no longer charge L2!

Removed top screws (where the area was supposed to be cutout), Clarity is now charging okay. Possibly something relatively trivial like a ground fault error. Hopefully no damage or blown fuses.

I’m sure the charging has nothing to do with the splash guards since all that is modified - cut or not cut is plastic molding.

I just got the bumper open (it was not that difficult) and there do not appear to be any electrical aspects to the removal of the small area, and another plastic layer behind that one. I see no obvious leakage path (as in a false ground fault detection) or conduction path. There are also no cables or sensors in there.

Never had a problem before with chargepoint L2 charing at home, but the failure to L2 charge does appear to have been a coincidence. Of course this had to fail just before I left for a trip. Very odd, because reseting chargepoint, or unplugging and plugging in again did not help, but after I removed those two screws, it started working again.

For now, it seems to have been no more than an odd coincidence. Possibly the cutouts are to prevent the rear layers from being pushed back by the screws related to water integrity?

No freaking clue.... I did it and had to cut through the middle to be able to unclip the side of the bumper.

IMHO it was completely useless and waste of time to cut the fabric and the plastic - the screw would have made it through anyway. I doubt if you get a dealer to do it, they would go through this hassle.

Save yourself 1 hour of your life and have a beer instead.
