Thanks! That makes sense. I hadn't thought about turning off ECON to get faster ACC speed recovery. I've been just manually hitting the gas pedal to recover speed, but having the car do that automatically would be more convenient. Thanks for the hint!

Hmmmm...In my experience with ACC, I *like* the fact that it doesn't recover the speed quickly. I like smoother deceleration and acceleration. I notice this much more when following at slower speeds, say under 40 MPH, where the ACC tends to slam on the brakes and then floor it to maintain the speed setting. While that doesn't bother me as the driver much, that would be annoying as a passenger.

I also experiment with the following *distance*. At faster speeds I like the maximum distance, but this also depends on the amount of traffic. Lots of traffic means that cars will fill the gap more often. At slower speeds, I'll use a shorter distance, but likely never the shortest...unless I'm in stop and go traffic. I love ACC and LSF.

I have my first data for a specific mission.

Yesterday I drove to our TN via a specific route. I filled up at a station near our N GA home, then again at one near our TN home. Drove in EV ECON mode until 5 miles EV range remained, then HV ECON the rest of the way. Did speed limit as closely as possible.

The results:

Interestingly, our trip display showed 68.5 mpg for the entire trip, but I calculate 78.8 mpg, at least between fillups (85.1/1.08). And what does the car use to calculate this?

I do have a third route planned, which keeps us off I-75 completely, but has more stop-and-go traffic.

Anyway, this is all rather silly, but I am enjoying the video game aspect. Keeps things interesting. I’ll update periodically as I try more routes.

I too recommend just using HV for the entire trip.

If you don't have a 240 volt charger at the other end and you have to use the 115v charger, it take 12 hours to recharge the battery. This means that when you arrive, if you have local errands or things to do you still have plenty of charge. Otherwise, if you arrive with a low battery and you need the car before it can recharge, you are once again stuck in HV mode.

Now if you have 240V charger at each end, my advice might be a little different. Maybe run to half a pack before going to HV mode.

While on a trip, whatever you do, try to avoid running the pack down less than maybe 40%. This is because if you go up steep hills, even in HV mode, you want to have enough batter capacity for the electric motor do do a lot of the grunting on the uphill climb, otherwise, you will hear the top speed RPM from the ICE, which is really annoying.

And even more important, avoid using the HV Charge Mode (and the easiest way to do that is to not let the battery get below maybe 40% charge). HV Charge is horribly inefficient. You take a car that can get 50mpg and turn it into a 30mpg car that that makes a lot of noise. HV Charge Mode should be avoided at all possible costs. It destroys the efficiency of the car. HV mode is quite efficient and running at 65 mph, I routinely see well over 50 mpg.
