My guess is the Semi will have 15000nm or about 7.5x the towing capacity of average class 8 truck and 4-7x the efficiency- or roughly double the power of the biggest class 8 semis that exists or about 600,000lbs towing capacity- not saying it will come with brakes rated for that but its basically what a top end dump truck would haul and its double the pull capacity of the biggest Class 8 you can buy hence being able to pull such a truck up a hill backwards. Should note that dump truck earth mover can carry quite a bit more than 600,000lbs though- but tend to be electric drive.
For the pickup I am guessing 7500nm or 2 or the rear model 3 motors (semi has 4) with the roadsters battery pack and likely thicker cabling going to the motors than in the Model 3. That's 5.53x time more power than the class leading 2019 Ram Heavy Duty below (which apparently is supposed to be the attempt at an ICE answer to the Tesla threat- it doesn't not even remotely) Surely the Tesla has 4-6x the efficiency of the Ram, plus guessing 0-60 in 3 seconds or maybe less- but surely 2x as quick as Ram. Also Tesla to have 4 wheel drive with torque vector to each wheel and 4 wheel steer and generator support built in and seats 6. Greater than 500 mile range. I think you'll be able to stand up inside. Take musk at his word looks like it will be the Semi with the cowl off the top and some inches shaved off the height and the interior set of wheels and motors gone freeing up space along with cab extended into the space where the aero adapter met the trailer on the Semi- huge interior. I expect the same single seat with two screens and suicide doors and Musk said titanium usage (which is already used if I am not mistaken for the battery protector in the S & X) but why not use new alumasteel as its billed as stronger, lighter cheaper and easier to work with- well lighter frame. Dodge talks of a 100K 5 year warranty- but Tesla motors are rated for 1 million miles with essentially zero maintenance and battery should hold up for something like that too. I wonder if there will be mega charger access- if so you could probably charge it in about 7.5 minutes. And of course with a much lower center of gravity and four wheel steer it will have much better handling. As for payload, it will surely be enough to carry a F150, but wouldn't be surprised if it were enough to carry a F450 weight and all- more clues Musk has dropped.
Pickup should be the hardest ICE smack down ever, probably more than the Roadster where the founder series with the cold thrust vectoring gives it a chance to beat the best Formula 1 race car time at Laguna Seca, and probably why Musk likes it most.
I expect just the unveling of the pick up to destroy ICE sales. I don't expect Ford to be able to compete because it would have to drop its ICE or cannibalize but also I don't have any confidence in Ford or GM or FCA. And I think Rivian is in another segment but what its announced won't be competitive. Remember the Model 3 outsold the F150 in the 2nd half of 2018 in California, the largest market of the most competitive market on Earth.
2019 Ram Heavy Duty Loan Star
"With a colossal peak torque of 1,000 pound-feet (1,356 Newton-meters) for models equipped with the Cummins 6.7-liter turbodiesel, the 2019 Ram Heavy Duty is being billed as “the most powerful, most capable pickup in the segment.” Indeed, the diesel Ram HD is a beast thanks to its 400 horsepower (298 kilowatts) engine, towing capacity of 35,100 lbs, and payload capacity of 7,680 lbs.
Ram Heavy Duty owners constantly demand the highest levels of capability to tackle the biggest jobs and with 35,100 lbs of towing capacity, pulled by 1,000 lb-ft of torque from our Cummins engine, we now hold the most important titles within the segment,” Reid Bigland, Head of Ram Brand at FCA, declared. “We’ve also surrounded owners in luxury and technology that, until now, was unavailable in a heavy-duty pickup. The highest quality interiors, active safety systems and of course our award-winning Uconnect technology contribute to the best Ram 2500 and 3500 trucks we have ever built.”
I expect the Dodge people to try to lie, like when they tried to say they put the motor of a Hellcat or Demon in a Ram truck and that made the truck faster than a P100DL when the car which is much lower and lighter couldn't beat the P100DL. Just like they've apparently tried to use the Drive and Elecktrek to try to conflate the Mega Charger with version 3 of supercharger in comparison to the the 350kwh charger to say that Musk isn't disparaging Dodge as seriously as he is.
