OK so I have a Signature SE which has a dummy rear fog light button. I assumed that it was not wired for my model trim. I had assumed the higher trim(s) have the real rear fog button? It appears there are real bulbs and wiring harness to the lenses in my car. So with the correct headlight switch and coding I could easily get these activated. Anybody else look into this?

I have looked into it and know exactly what part is needed. The switch with the rear fog lights is the same wiring, it's all on the SE CAN bus and there are a couple of Bimmercode changes needed to activate the switch – one for recognizing the button and one for showing the icon on the dash. I went so far as to ask my service department about installing the switch, at which point I discovered the US outlaws dual rear fog lights. It's not your trim model, it's your country. I believe the EU requires rear fogs.

I have heard of people using Bimmercode to program the rear fog lights come on with the brake lights.

Thanks for the reply. I've heard the same thing but was confused since my Audi had rear fog(s) that worked! I've also heard that the US has weird / antiquated taillight requirements for whatever reason. I'm assuming the dealership said to NO to modifying? Can you share the switch part #? I found the Bimmercodes in a Youtube video. Not sure if I want to DIY it or pay someone else to f*ck it up.

The service manager said no even though it's a straightforward part replacement, which I totally understand. They can't knowingly do illegal modifications. Since my SE is new (under warranty) I didn't want to risk marring my shiny car by having someone else do the install, or try it myself.

The part from this page is 08 - Part number 61319865845.

I've heard mixed things about the 2022 LCI, maybe it has a single center rear fog light? If so the US market might be able to get them again. My 2010 MINI Clubman had a single rear fog light, and I found it very useful.
