Range anxiety

I bought a 2019 white Kia Niro PHEV ex two months ago.
So far the car has been great although my wife would like more room in the hatch area.
I installed a 240v amazon charger 16 amps at home.
When charging I always get a range of 38 kms or 23.6 miles.
I tried the charger that came with the car and got the same result.
Once or twice the car has got a full charge of 41km or 26 miles.
Is this normal?
I would assumed the battery would fully charge to 41kms each time.

Range is an estimate primarily based on your recent driving habits but it is also changes with weather/temperature. Seeing a fluctuation is normal.
 
Yep; the guess-o-meter (GOM) repots max estimated range based on most recent energy consumption, which varies based on driving style, temperature, humidity and driving conditions, etc.

I just find it odd that on rare occasions a full charge gives me 41 km and the majority of the time I am getting 38 km on the gas o meter LoL.
What do others get on their gas o meter?

On my Sonata, I get 27 miles with the heater or AC off and 25 miles with the heater or AC on. So see what happens when you turn these off.

Yes, turning off climate control will give you 2-3 more miles on electric if it's not too hot or cold...

Of course, how you drive will have a big influence too. Driving on the highway at >60 mph will use electric range very quickly as well as steep hills!

turned off my heater and voila 41kms on the gas o meter.
I typically drive the car in EV exclusively and just let it do it's thing.
Getting 2.2l/100kms or 129mpg.
Have purchased the amazon floor mats.
So far really happy with them.
I installed solar panels and produce more than I consume so I am literally driving on sunshine.

Tell your wife she doesn't need any more room and to keep quiet back there, sorry I couldnt resist. ;)

Sometimes I get to ride in the front seat:rolleyes:.
She is a little happier that it charges to 41 kms and not 38 kms.
But that darn backup assist keeps beeping at her

Haha, you know the seats fold right?
Just remember the number it shows you is a guess based on how you drive (guess-o-meter(GOM)) so you can get 41 km if you use regen and drive really slow. I drove my Niro EV to Kelowna in the summer and when I got back my GOM went down from 380 to 340 but now it is back up.
 
The regular hybrid and the EV have a lot of usable space under the cargo floor that is taken up with the battery in the PHEV...
