Just got it in, yes, I got the adjustable one. From the 50A breaker to the Nema 14-50 outlet, there is a 6/3 NM-B cable, not an 8/3. So it's perhaps a tiny bit oversized. Had the charger running for about 30 mins now and the charger cords (to the car and from the plug to the charger) are warm to the touch, but the cable feeding my outlet is cool (room temperature). So I'm not worried about that. The breaker is also cool to the touch.

As for the 120V charger making the cable a little warmer, it was just a couple of degrees warmer than the other cables when pulling 12A on a 14/2 NM-B cable, rated for 15A. Not worried about heat there. Plus the "granny charger" is back in the trunk of the car. It's all Zencar moving forward. Maybe I'll use the 120V at the office, but I think I will need an extension cord because there is no way it's going to reach from the nearest parking spot. Does anyone have experience with the J1772A extension cords? Any issues, and is the connection in the middle still water proof?
 
Finally got my plates, so here’s a pic! Close to 1500 miles on the counter. Replacing tires next week. The Nexens were very slippery in the rain last week.

I finally received my Kona! It was ordered in November 2019, originally scheduled for May 2020, but delayed. I picked it up on October 19, 2021. I haven't been able to take a daytime picture yet, so a garage pic will have to do.

It is much quieter than my former 2014 Hyundai Elantra GT. Using a decibel meter in the cabin, I measured an average 60 dB on Sunday. On the same road, same speed in the Kona EV cabin, I measured an average 42 dB! A massive decrease!

So, based upon the major themes of discussion in the forum, I figured I'd also take some pictures of the underlying systems to document my car while I could still read the labels, and in case anyone wants to track Hyundai's progress in updating things....

Door plate build date shows August 2020.

Electric motor shows P/N 36500-0E700.

Battery Pack shows date August 20, 2020.

Blue coolant.

12V Battery is 45Ah, 410A Cold Cranking. (I also applied dielectric grease and zip tied the cap thanks to https://www.insideevsforum.com/comm...ifications-and-tweaks.5009/page-8#post-103776.

Happily, my car is not included in the battery pack recall based upon its date, but I double checked the Canadian recall site, and it also doesn't show there.

All in all, I'm super thrilled to finally drive it, and I look forward to charging it at home for the first time this weekend. Oh, and I'm loving the vented seats!

Nice colour choice and good move with battery terminals. Sounds like you’re keeping up with the goss as well!

11 months of waiting gives a lot of time to research. (I assume your p/u date was Oct 19/2020) I think you set a new wait record non the less.:)

Congratulations on your new Kona. We had a similar vintage Elantra and drove the GT version as well, I totally agree the comfort and noise level are significantly better. For all the folks who have expressed concern about noise I actually find the Kona EV(at least the 2020 model) is relatively quiet with the exception of a bit of a highway wind whistle the comes from the driver's mirror at the bottom space where it articulates. It looks like its a design "feature", when I tire of it I may try to find some thin rubber molding that covers that articulating space.
 
You must have better road surfaces than we do. Tires rolling on our rough "chip seal" roads overwhelms any other noise. On the rare smooth road the Kona is as quiet as a magic carpet.
 
I keeping with the tradition of posting a picture, I will submit this:

It was on the lot, (no 8+ month wait) and had just arrived. Odometer 12 km, shipped SOC 43%.
HV Battery - manufacture date: 2020/8/27, BMS ROM ID 6980, part #37501-4054
Car manufacture date Sept 2020
Perfect! No recalls to worry about. I was getting a little anxious about my 2019 and discussed this with service dept. The car they had in (2019) for battery replacement the day before ( due to a non pass from the 960 update) was finally returned to the customer today after an approx 4 month wait.
The new Oct update is still to come and no details yet on what is involved. My 2019 had a case for motor replacement as well, which was in the works, so more wait times for that either (tapping noise).
I received a more than generous trade in on my 19 model with 12,400 km, and recouped 78% of the original MSRP.
In addition an xtra $1050 off (they had a promo on to include a level 2 EVSE valued at that- which I didn't need)
I also recouped over 83% of the original extended warranty and applied it to the new car.
The maintenance will be as follows:
1st year (12k kms) $69.00 (checks)
2nd year (24k kms) $200 (brakes take apart, clean & lubricate (pins etc) and checks
3Rd year Brake fluid change + checks (didn't get price but usually $200 or less)
Coolant change on the Kona @60K km

What, you traded in your low mileage 2019 for a new 2020, same car, same trim!!?? I am afraid to ask why? Did you get another $8000 subsidy off in addition to your trade-in value?

Good question to bring up and thanks for asking.
The CEV for B.C. is good for one incentive through the lifespan of the program:

Dealer has had many EV trade ins on Kona, including a recent 2019 Leaf (who also had received the CEV rebate) and has been down this road (an oversight on my part, but understandable).
In 2019 I received $5 off the MSRP through the CEV program, since then it has gone down (coincidently around the same time when the federal one became active).
The value now is $3K, so no I did not qualify.
The federal ZEV incentive is available as an individual once per calendar year ( I can see that changing in the not to distant future) :

My original 2019 purchase date was before the program existed, so I definitely qualified.
In regards to the first question, I tried to answer that in the original post.
I am very happy with the purchase. For me, that's what counts the most.;)
 
Congrats Eddy. We drove our 21 up there last wk. what a perfect vehicle for the island.
Wheaton should end up with good techs, being a big GM dealer. Lots of new ev’s coming
from GM.

Thank you, I agree perfect EV for the Island , Kona has worked well for me.
Also lots of charging options available with some in picturesque locations:)
Wheaton Hyundai have great tecks, if having any service done I highly recommend them particularly Scott and Brodie.

Just curious, what did they do with your old Kona EV? Did they change the reduction drive and motor before selling it to someone else?
