Placed my order yesterday

Well - I placed my order for the 2027 i3 Neue Klasse yesterday at the BMW dealerhsip. They didn't have any color samples for the Ocean Wave Blue or Eucalyptus Green I was interested in. I ended up chosing Le Castellet Blue with the black M interior. I was told I have 3 weeks to make any changes before my configuration is locked. Also told the order was accepted by BMW, but no order number yet...

Anybody else place an order yet ?

Congratulations! There's a reason BMW usually shows the i3 in Le Castellet Blue, and it's not because they got a great deal on the paint--it looks outstanding. I'm looking forward to reading your impressions and experiences with this new and classy car.

My local dealer has received five i3 reservations so far, but many more reservations for the iX3. I don't find that surprising.

Instead of placing a reservation, I sent a snail-mail letter to BMW VP of Marketing, Leigh Moynihan, requesting a sunroof-delete option for the i3, an option that is available to overseas i3 customers.

The base iX3 doesn't include a sunroof. The optional $1,500 Comfort Package includes the sunroof, heated steering-wheel, and multifunctional seats (adding more adjustments and 7-program massage). The sunroof can be deleted from that package for a $750 deduction.

In my letter, I told Ms. Moynihan that if BMW decides to offer an i3 sunroof-delete option without a discount, that would be a win-win proposition for BMW and customers like me.

Nice! Any discounts or is it MSRP?

Right now it is MSRP. The dealer I went to (also has Porsche dealerships) is famous for adding additional dealer markup to prices. I actually got in writing the car will be sold at MSRP. For example - for the Taycan Cross Turismo allocation, they wanted $20,000 over MSRP, so I went to another dealer. For the Mini SE, they wanted $4,000 over MSRP so I went to another dealer.

yeah, that's the same reason why i don't own a lightning. they wanted 20k dealer hit on top of the already 20k more for a similar ICE truck so i walked and got a v8 truck. sucks that the dealers do this gouging to us.

I did talk to one other BMW dealership and they said there won't be any discounts as they got a surprising amount of i3 orders - didn't give me the actual number though..

Please keep us posted as I do not want the panoramic roof !
My BMW of Ann Arbor salesman, er, Client Advisor, texted a response to my complaint about having to accept the standard sunroof: "You know, it may be something we can checkmark ourselves. Often there are options or features not shown on BMWUSA that we are able to modify in order system. For example, we can add a lotof M Performance parts to build and certain interior choices we could change in the past."

I'll be surprised if he's right.
