Oh the oil itself is that expensive even at Walmart? The question is does it require synthetic or regular will do.
No, you can get synthetic 0w20 for as low as $20. Pennzoil and Mobil usually have rebates for $10 off 5 quarts. You can get it for as low as $12.68 plus tax after rebate.

A Porsche oil change will run you $300...
Actually, my Land Rover oil change by my dealer is $500.
But then the Land Rover oil changes are around 12,000 miles....
Now I use an independent who specializes in European cars = $110.

For the Clarity, I got the optional Honda Care for $435 to take care of all oil changes by the dealer for the next 3 years plus tire replacement coverage...
Thanks to this forum where I learned frequent oil changes are needed - I got a pre-paid oil change contract in F&I.

Glad I won't have to squirm each time an oil change is needed....;)

What a rip off ... I know we have discussed it to death (regarding premature oil change) but still dealer is charging like 58 for synthetic oil.

Is it true that only synthetic is allowed?

Looks like a total waste for driving 1000 miles on ICE

If I knew I was going to pay this much for service would have bought a German car instead.
Some food for thought. The ICE engine is just sitting there waiting to be used. It is not warmed up and maybe, has not run for awhile. Suddenly you press down past the click point and the cold engine matches RPM with the electric motor and locks in around 5000 RPM. Bam, we have ignition and sudden piston speed, on a engine that has not run lube thru it for awhile. Although the ICE engine has few miles on it, the startup engagement RPM is very dramatic.

Hybrids have been doing this for over twenty years, they have that all worked out.

If a person really wanted to take extra care they can avoid this event.

1. Don't push the go pedal past the EV mode.
2. Before needing to use the ICE: such as a depleted battery or high cilmb they can select HV or HV charge to lessen the ICE load.
