No, you can get synthetic 0w20 for as low as $20. Pennzoil and Mobil usually have rebates for $10 off 5 quarts. You can get it for as low as $12.68 plus tax after rebate.Oh the oil itself is that expensive even at Walmart? The question is does it require synthetic or regular will do.
A Porsche oil change will run you $300...
Ever cheaper with rebate at Wallywold. I usually just stockpile when they have a good rebateWhen I do The Wifes Civic I just pick up mobil 1 synthetic at Costco.....it's like 30 bucks?
Some food for thought. The ICE engine is just sitting there waiting to be used. It is not warmed up and maybe, has not run for awhile. Suddenly you press down past the click point and the cold engine matches RPM with the electric motor and locks in around 5000 RPM. Bam, we have ignition and sudden piston speed, on a engine that has not run lube thru it for awhile. Although the ICE engine has few miles on it, the startup engagement RPM is very dramatic. What a rip off ... I know we have discussed it to death (regarding premature oil change) but still dealer is charging like 58 for synthetic oil.
Is it true that only synthetic is allowed?
Looks like a total waste for driving 1000 miles on ICE
If I knew I was going to pay this much for service would have bought a German car instead.
Hybrids have been doing this for over twenty years, they have that all worked out. Some food for thought. The ICE engine is just sitting there waiting to be used. Anti drain back oil filters and modern formulated oils and additives were a simple but important part of that. Also, it helps that machining tolerances, valves, and bearings got a lot better.Hybrids have been doing this for over twenty years, they have that all worked out.
