2025 Tucson PHEV. I use scheduled charging to take advantage of cheaper overnight rates. This works fine with my level 2 charger. But with the portable charger that came with the car, it will not charge. When I plug it in, the car says "charging scheduled" and that light comes on, but it won't start the charge later. If I override or cancel the scheduling, the portable charger works fine.
And I tried the portable charger from my 2021 Kona EV, and it works fine with scheduled charging when plugged into the Tucson.
So, I have a way to charge both cars overnight, but I just can't think of any reason why the Tucson's portable charger won't start a scheduled charge.
Any ideas?

this sounds like a classic handshake bug between the tucson’s internal software and the specific firmware in the new portable iccb charger it comes with since your kona charger works fine it proves the car’s scheduling logic is actually okay but the tucson’s own portable unit likely isn't "waking up" when the car sends the start signal after a long standby period

try going into the phev menu on your infotainment screen and checking the "charging current" settings to see if it's set to maximum for the portable charger as sometimes a lower setting causes a timeout error during a scheduled start if that doesn't work you might want to ask the dealer for a firmware flash on the iccb unit itself because there have been reports of these new 2025 chargers having issues specifically with the "off-peak only" setting

Thanks for the ideas. I may have tried this before I learned about increasing the charge settings on the portable charger itself (the Kona didn’t have that). I’ll check when back in town in a couple weeks.

(Tucson is sitting there with a battery tender attached so I don’t come home to a(nother) dead 12 volt battery.)
