No battery degradation after 2 years

Hi. I recently charged my 2024 Blazer ev rwd rs, with 28,000 miles, and the read out indicated I am good to go for 326 miles. In other words I have had no battery degradation and actually an increase of 2 mile from when the vehicle was new. I had always thought my Blazer had very little loss in mileage, but I wanted to see what's going on and that's why I charged to 100%. Any comments or thoughts?

Welcome to the forum! Most EV's, including the Chevrolet Blazer and the Smart and Ford EV's I have owned, provide a range estimate (some affectionately call it a guess-o-meter) based on the amount of electricity used compared to miles driven in recent driving history times the battery percentage.

In my experience my EV's have shown higher and lower estimates compared to the EPA rating. If I just did a lot of interstate driving, or the destination route I pick includes mostly interstates on the route, my guess-o-meter reading trends a little lower than the EPA range rating. If I have been driving on local roads and generally slower, I have seen guess-o-meter readings as much as 80% over the EPA range rating. The EPA range rating is a whole other story in itself, short version of my understanding is that the overall rating is a result of a series of tests in a lab simulating a mix of city and highway driving with an average speed of 60 mph or so, and in most cases the number is self-reported by the automaker. Some automakers sandbag a bit on the EPA range. In other words, they report a lower number to under-promise and over-deliver. I know from tracking my trips that Ford does this.

There is a company called Recurrent that tracks EV battery degradation, this article indicates Chevrolets, on average, have less than 5% battery degradation after three years New Data: How Long Do Electric Car Batteries Last? . Sounds like your Blazer is right on track!

I've never looked at actual battery numbers, but my 2021 MINI Cooper SE has 139,000 miles on it and still has full real-world driving range compared to when I first got it. In fact, while the car is rated at 110 mile range, I still get well over 130 miles in the summertime. And I drive around 100 miles per day so this is based on miles driven and remaining SoC percentage, not just the GOM numbers.

Like compact discs, non-first generation EVs are much more durable than the experts predicted.
