MY2024 Kona N Line EV - Acceleration Noise

Hi all

I am new to the forum, UK based. I have a 2024 Kona N Line which I have had for 5 months and I love it, however I have noticed in the last couple of hundred miles it has started to make a high pitched noise like a cricket chirping / squeaking as I am accelerating. It gets faster the faster the car goes. It doesnt happen on deceleration. Starts around 25/30mph and cant hear it after about 60mph. It wouldnt be audible over music etc and you do have to listen out for it but once you hear it you cant unhear it.

The car has only done 8.5k miles and is 2 years old end of September, I have done around 4k miles of that. Perhaps this has always been there and maybe is a normal sound but I am sure I would have noticed it before now if it has always been there?!

UPDATE -

Here is an updated video - I put a sound recorder in the car. Hopefully it can be heard now. It is what sounds like a helicopter rotors slowly rotating but getting faster. But inside the car it sounds like the crickets chirping/squeaking noise. I can clearly hear it from outside the car if I open the window too - at first I thought it was from the passenger side front wheel area but not so sure.

I have edited a 16 minute recording down to a couple of minutes to hear it frequently.

It is every time I put my foot on accelerator until it reaches a steady speed and I can ease off. As soon as I take foot off pedal the noise instantly stops.

Thanks

I hear "bong, bong, bong", not "chirping", at the mentioned times.

I need to check, but isn't that the warning for straying over the white lines in the middle of the road ?

My 2025 Kona N EV never sounded like that, not normal at all.
Other than taking to dealer, that is all I can offer at this time. Warranty is transferable (so long as you or other parties haven't attempted any repairs) if you bought used. Good luck and please follow up

Take it to the dealer before it blows up LoL

After pondering it over if it where mine, I would do 2 things:
(1) Remove wheels and check for foreign object (personally I would have the dealer do it).
or
(2) Although the function is intended to remove rust, I would do a brake/rotor clean, (push AUTOHOLD for more than 3 seconds) see manual. note: this may clear or make worse but noticing the sound reduction on deceleration points to abatement of noise as regen kicks in with little or no compression of the calipers/pads.

BTW good job on that updated Audio clip, cheers ;)

Thanks.

I did the autoclean the day before yesterday and it made no difference. I will ring a local Hyundai garage this morning.

It only started within the last couple hundred miles.

Something catching in the brake disc and brake pads, or the wheel, but only going forwards.
Baling wire or similar wrapped around the drive shaft ?
Jack up and inspect.
