Natural lane selection will take care of any gaps you leave in front of you in heavy traffic. Then the car that just cut in front of your Clarity and hit its brakes will slow you down again.Rant time. I've read studies and seen video demonstrations where in stop-and-go freeway traffic it's actually better to slowly accelerate and brake to smooth out the flow instead of pushing hard to start only to brake hard when the traffic slows again.
But yeah, people behind you tend to get aggravated when you let a gap get in front of you, even if only temporary.
