Long term review of U25

After driving the U25 for over a year, I can confidently say I do like it quite a bit! Driving dynamics is generally good, but the quarterly software updates is like a see-saw of steering feel. At first it was BMW G chassis linear, then another update went F56 wobbly, then back to BMW E chassis stiff, then classic mini wobbly, and now back to BMW linear. Personally I do not like the classic MINI steering wobble on the U25 because the driving feel is very similar to slipping on ice during winter driving. It makes it very difficult to ride it out. Other than that, the U25 BEV does handle well but you have to drive with good throttle control.

If you drive the U25 like a FWD vehicle, it's going to be a very disappointing ride. Treat it like RWD and let the weight transfer ride through before adding throttle. Yes it's beefy in weight but I believe the weight distribution is 49.3/50.7 unladen.

Cruise control is much more improved and properly works in sunlight. The blinker stalk is actually now has the traditional lock/click because the vehicle can make lane changes. The assisted lane changes used to be abrupt but now has smoothened out via OTA updates.

The interior is incredibly spacious in the compact SUV/crossover segment thanks to the boxy structure. I love that the U25 is a BEV-retrofit platform because there's a real panoramic moonroof with sunshades. None of this all glass pizza oven roof to cheat headroom space. I've also come to appreciate the sliding armrest instead of a storage armrest. It's comfortable for your arm AND it doubles to transmit the low frequency bass! One of the most unexpected things I've also come to appreciate is the steering wheel. The smaller wheel is more comfortable than the F56, a little more chunky, but most important of all very friendly for 9 & 3 o'clock grips. If you haven't tried the X1/X2 steering wheel, it's designed for a 10 & 2 grip because the thumb control trim/bezels end up poking your thumbs when holding 9 & 3!

As for the biggest of range, it's really a non-issue with adequate planning. Yes 200 miles is on the short side, but I can't hold my pee for 3+ hours straight...I mean I recall the story of that one driver who drove 900 miles from Houston to Orlando using adult diapers...granted that's standard operating procedure in a spacesuit.
