limit of 2 dc fast charges per 24 hours

There are many, many variables that affect charge rate, battery temp, SOC, L3 charger, etc, etc. Hence charging rates will be all over the map. I had the same with my Kona. The only time you should expect spec results is a warm battery (80F) and a high speed working L3, and no one else charging there (thereby causing it to throttle down). Trust me, I have seen it all... I long gave up trying to figure out each charging rate, and why they are always different.

But at best, even after the May update, you will be very lucky to ever see spec charging times. I never did with my Kona. And good luck with complaining to Toyota. I think they made it pretty clear their specs are best case when they say "as good as".

One thing I do appreciate is that Toyota was ultra conservative with their charging initially, wanting to protect their batteries, and gave a buffer for the inexperienced that run out of range on a drive. That is unlike some other manufacturers that ended up having their customers' batteries damaged with too fast charging and regen. After some experience I expect them to improve their charging times, but don't don't expect too much. Like I keep saying, at best and per spec, this NOT a good trip car. Use another car for that.

For my short trips and around town so far, the Solterra has been great, and even exceeded my expectations in many respects. So I am very happy with my car.

If you want a good trip car, buy an Ioniq 5 or 6, or the Kia equivalents.

Is there a Kia equivalent for the Ioniq 6 coming? I've been wondering why I haven't read about it yet since they usually come in matched pairs.

Not yet, but am sure it is coming. The Ioniq 5 and 6 share the same fast charging battery/drivetrain platform. The I6 though has a much more aerodynamic low drag shape, so has better range.

Hello, I’m a guy from The Netherlands and received my Solterra on DEC, 29th 2022. I want to share some Solterra experiences to help people. For me the comment of RP "I understand your problem exactly, unrealistic expectations" is not fair and off topic!

I had similar discussions with Subaru Benelux. Meanwhile my Subaru dealer agrees with my conclusions; fast charging and WLTP range is unacceptabel for this expensive car! For the same price I drove a Kia EV6 AWD and for nearly half the price I drove a Kia E-Niro. But hé, I'm a Subaru S-AWD lover too for decades!
So based on the figures in the (sales)flyer and a test drive I purchased the car nearly 7 months ago.

For those who interested, my Solterra is finally updated (by dealer) on 20-JUN-2023.
And here are my experiences with overall positive results. I'm aware of the fact that this update shouldn't be necessary and the first production cars had to be delivered with this update! Not after more than six months! A missed opportunity and big mistake by Toyota/Subaru.

I'm glad that people like Bjorn and Kyle exist and tested the bZ4X to the limit! So that Toyota/Subaru had to get into action. I hope (and think) more updates will follow based on user experiences.

I've not tested the fastcharge more than 2 times in 24 hours yet. This is already done by Irwin (InstaAutoVlog) and he got good results (1000km to Milan in 3 stops). Better results than Bjorn on the 1000km test I think. Hopefully the document makes sense else I'm sorry

New BZ4X owner here. I know this is an old thread, but I'm shocked this issue ever existed. Seems as though it's fixed now so that's good, what a ridiculous limit that was.
