It's OFFICIAL - 2020 Clarity PHEV in US

The feature that you’ve described simply turns on the head lights, in some instances, when the wipers are activated, which must be done manually on current models.

This is from the 2018 Manual - and how it works in my 2018 Base model...

In the "Amenities" section on the Honda page they list "an available heated steering wheel" along with the heated seats. No mention anywhere else that I can find (including the manual linked above).

Wasn't there an error in a Clarity press-release years ago that said the 2018 PHEV had rain-sensing wipers?

Edit: I guess it wasn't a press-release. I was remembering @descolado on this forum who read on Facebook that the 2018 Clarity PHEV had rain-sensing wipers.
Yes there was an original error stating rain-sensing wipers that never made it into the production product. Perhaps the 2020 simply picked up old text.

Or the Owners manual is incorrect.

It's possible, but the 2020 Honda site trims/specs page just says "Variable Intermittent Windshield Wipers", nothing about rain-sensing. The chances that Honda made no other changes to the car but to add a single random feature that probably isn't that high on most peoples's "need" list, unlike say a volume knob (which I don't miss, just giving an example), is pretty low. Same for the AVAS -- I would not be surprised at all if it's just the same as the 2018 and 2019 and the article writers were just sloppy about finding what's "new". As far as I know the sounds they put in already comply with the regulations, so I'm not sure why they'd change it.

In any case, eagerly awaiting firsthand reports from someone who gets a 2020! If they're anywhere near me we can compare sounds and features :-)

The linked article says nothing about where it will be sold.
Honda will indeed still prioritize CA, with a few showing up in other ZEV states as inventory, but "available to order" from any dealer (that is willing to do so).

More confirmation of CA inventory availability, with ordering still a possibility in other states:

Green Car Reports: "2020 Honda Clarity Plug-In Hybrid returns to California, other states by order."

I bought my Clarity in Massachusetts getting way better pricing using a “drive green discount” program from the green energy alliance. I got a mailing from them today about an almost 50% off program for the Chevy Bolt. Out of curiosity I went to their site to look at the Clarity discounts. Their site said that the clarity was no longer part of their program because it isn’t offered by dealers in Massachusetts. Love the clarity and keeping it for the long run but am sure glad I have an 8 year Honda warranty!

Fwiw the Fuel Cell version had "real" rain sensing wipers since 2017. So it's possible they brought it over

I'm starting to contact local dealers (metro Detriot) and one claims that the district manager has promised allocations starting in April.

South Tacoma Honda (WA) apparently got 14 of them.

I’ll take my crow buffalo style please.

I noticed that in the article posted by the OP that he/she states that the Clarity qualifies for the $7500 rebate. Seriously? Does anyone that writes articles on the Internet do any research?

Manager at the dealership where I left a deposit said first 7 Clarities were delivered to first customers in Ontario. Turns out I am not one of them :(

It's not a big reach to equate a tax credit with a tax rebate.

Good luck getting that "rebate" if your tax liability is $2,000.00.

The real point is accuracy. If someone is going to write a supposedly professional article on the web they should at least have the basics down.
