Is the Electrify America Pass+ membership a good value ?

I've been an EV driver for years, but most of my driving is local, so I seldom use DC fast charging. I have a standard account with Electrify America, as well as accounts with ChargePoint, Blink and EVgo ... just in case I need to go far. I asked Google what the breakeven usage is that would justify signing up for the Pass+ membership with EA and the answer surprised me, just one DC Fast Charge (~50kwH) per month is the minimum usage to make the $7/month plan worthwhile. In my case, since my Kona only has a 65 kWH battery, it is probably more like 2 charging sessions. At this time, I don't use DC fast charging frequently enough to justify the Pass+ membership. What is the minimum amount of time one needs to sign up for to get the lower rates ? Let's say I am planning longer trip in my EV during the Summer, Is it possible to sign up for Pass+ for just 3 months ?
In anticipation of longer trips, I also acquired a NACS-to-CCS1 Adapter, in case a Tesla Supercharger station is a good option. Any non-Tesla EV drivers, using the Tesla Network instead or in addition to EA ? Is Tesla Cheaper ? (Std rates for EA in my area are $0.43/kWh Off-Peak, $0.64/kWh Peak, with Pass+, the rates are 25% less).

Asked and answered. Those subscription fee plans:
  • Compete with residential rates - if at all possible, do home charging. That is the secret to affordable EV driving.
  • Fees - like paying for a gym but not having time to go. A waste of money.
If one lives in an apartment and lacks free or cheap charging at work, I don't recommend an EV to reduce commuting costs. My $0.38-0.44 SuperCharger fee makes my Model 3 on cross country trips cost about the same as ~35-45 MPG. Since long distance, SuperCharger miles are rare for me, my home charging costs run about $0.01-$0.025/mile.

GOOD LUCK!

Congratulations on starting to take more roadtrips. To answer the question, my understanding is the both EA and Tesla can be canceled after as little as one month.

After over 500 public DCFC sessions have gravitated towards just having the free versions of charging apps and accounts for maximum flexibility in stop choice. In 2019 I had an EA Pass+ and the EVgo buydown plan back when they were my only option for DCFC in a lot of areas. Now there are so many more network options. On a road trip this past spring of 2026 we used over a dozen different CPO's.
