instrument panel numbers not aligned

I just noticed that the decimal numbers are smaller and not aligned. this is true in other displays too not just on the average fuel consumption. same problem exists on the main display which shows EV range left.

and it's not just my car either, I saw it on other pictures posted on this site.

now that I saw it, I can't unsee it and it drives me crazy. Where's the Japanese perfectionism and quality???

you can see for example in the image that shows average 2.4.

the 2 is actually placed higher than the decimal dot, and the 4 is both smaller in size than the 2 and is placed lower than the decimal dot.

the 2 is the same size as "average fuel A" text.

Chill, @victor_2019. It's not a bug; it's a design choice feature. (Might not be our UX choice, but I'm pretty sure it's intentional. On the tablet GOM, they don't show tenths at all.)

Honda does not think tenths are as important as integers. I guess the idea is that with a quick glance the driver should not mistake 2.1 for 21.:rolleyes:

You don't need to quickly "at a glance" know your average fuel consumption, do you? Everyone knows what the decimal dot is for.

and that doesn't justify the lack of alignment between the decimal point and the two numbers (the decimal dot being lower and the number after the decimal even lower on the vertical axis).

and it's not doing a great job at it because the smaller size is not extremely obvious. it took me several months to notice that it's smaller and placed lower. in fact what bothered me more is that it's palced lower and you can see some numbers clearly pass below the decimal dot.

"mpg" is a much shorter string. When it needs to cram "l/100km" on the screen, it has to shrink the font, and it's overdoing the baseline adjustment to match the smaller font. On mine, there is no difference in baseline in the dot and subsequent "<digit> mpg". The tenths digit is smaller, but the bottom line is in the right place. I would think it's just a regional software bug; call Honda tech support and let them know.
 
I'm sure this was a conscious decision. I see this a lot in graphic design, anyway. It both helps accent the integer and (for some people) makes the number easier to read when it is offset. We do this often on architectural drawings. Not saying it is the right choice for everyone, but from a design standpoint, it isn't all that uncommon.

I agree it is software not a manufacturing issue, these aren't like the type of LCD display that has things "baked in" like a digital clock where if you shine a light on it with the right angle you can see the various graphics that are built in. Our instrument displays are more like five individual computer screens that are drawn on. As an example I noticed that if you run Waze the direction guides that appear on the instrument panel display look different than the guides that appear when using Google Maps or the stock NAV screen.

As for regional software difference, I suppose that's possible since the OP is in Canada?

Anyway I am pretty sure it would be by design, the fact that it took this long for anyone to even notice indicates they know what they are doing.
