Under recall, 40,323 HV packs will be replaced due to their battery packs risk overheating.
Single-Motor Extended Range and Twin-Motor Performance cars with these high‑voltage cells are affected.

The safest solution is to downgrade extended range models to 51kWh LFP. If drivers can manage the 70% SoC 69kWh restriction, then 100% SoC of 51kWh should be plenty.

I wonder how well the Chinese report their battery issues? Is this something we need to worry with Chinese cars in Canada?

Geely already settled with Sunwoda, so it's going to be kept quiet. It's best for both sides that the bad news doesn't spread. Now if the batteries are refurbished and resold as new vehicles...that could be a different issue.

It's probably going to be repurposed as battery storage for homes.

Not clear how it is settled as according the Reuters article ..the plant that manufactures the battery for Geely (who owns Volvo) and subsequently Volvo is a joint venture called "Shandong Geely Sunwoda Power Battery Co."
