How to Clean Those Tiny Holes

lotsa questions

New Member
I have an 11 year old boy and yesterday he was eating in the back seat and when I went to clean out the car I noticed food just caked into those tiny perforated holes or whatever you call it. (The holes in the seat for ventilation I'm assuming).

Does anyone have any idea how to clean those out? There must be some kind of trick to it. Do I just need a strong enough vacuum? Or do I need to find some kind of little needle that can grip the food and pull it out of each of those holes (which sounds like torture of course)?

I guess this isn't really a Model 3 question per se, but rather a auto detailing question huh

Thanks! I will try the putty

I feel the compressed air might just push the food down further though.

I tried a needle but with mixed results. I regular smooth needle will push the food down if you just go straight down. You have to go at an angle and carefully try to lift the food up. Difficult because its such a tiny hold.

Ideally there would be some tiny and powerful vacuum end that sucks the food up. Or a needle with microhooks or whatever that can pull the food upward.

Hello, I came to give an update.

What I did was use 2 needles. I pushed one needle under an adjacent hole and then upward to push the tiny food from underneath. Then with another needle carefully wedge it in between the food and material and eventually plucked it from the hole.

I guess I created a new method. I also curved the needle that was inserted under, to help it push upward.

This seemed to work fairly well. I was concerned about potentially damaging the material, but if you are careful it works fine.

I did not get around to the putty method. The food was quite lodged in there stubborningly, so I doubt the putty would have worked. What is needed is force from underneath to push it upward. Force from the top would only push it downward.

I think I may buy seat covers to prevent this from happening again.
