How many miles on your Mini SE?

Colloquially, yeah I guess. Or maybe just among those of a certain age who grew up in the time when the switch to metric/SI happened. My buddy is 59 and says, “Don’t quote me litres per hundred kilometres, tell me miles on a tank.” :confused: OTOH, my wife wasn’t yet born when metrication began in Canada, and still a small child when most of the visible switches were put in place, and doesn’t know from miles or degrees Fahrenheit. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Believe me is crazy but living here for 40 years and being technical guy growing and schooling with all decimal liters centimeter kg km C and else once I get into a market being into construction I have to transfer fast to inches foot yards miles gallons pints oz Fahrenheit and all crab but in 40 years I’m doing well in my country call USA and I’m not missing that EU different crab you accept where is your place of leaving.
 
Based solely on the exorbitant number of people clamoring to enter the US, perhaps our systems are not quite as bad as some would have us believe. Miles, feet, pounds, Fahrenheit, etc., seem to have served this country quite well. Your welcome.

They have served the people who never had to learn another system quite well. That being said, the metric system is much more logical. (Said by the guy who can't mentally translate Centigrade to Fahrenheit in his head at all, but would cheerfully switch the systems if he could.)
 
The mile has had so many variances/changes over time. It was originally 1000 roman paces. Now those romans really knew how to boogey, and their pace officially was 5 roman feet. A mile was 5000 feet. This was divided into 8 parts call furlongs. Different places had different measures for a mile, but if you believe the story, Queen Elizabeth the first standardised the mile for horse racing. It became 5280 feet or 8 English furlongs. The English furlong was used for calculating area - an acre was a furlong multiplied by a chain. You have to love imperial measurements. Anyway it all goes back to mile meaning 1000 in latin. Metric is boring and doesn't have interesting names like link, chain, furlong etc but is is pretty consistent :)

Yea 95% at home charging, did not include the few fast charge sessions when I went to Chicago. Hoping to get my avg even lower as I've switched to hourly pricing with ComEd to charge at night and is now in effect since late August so the next bill should be interesting.
 
How much do you pay for electricity? That’s astonishingly low. Up here in the land of cheap electricity and expensive gas I pay ~4.5¢ per kWh, which works out to about 1.4¢ per mile (including free and one short paid public sessions). Even at 5 mi/KWh, you’ve consumed at least 1460 KWh…

Goal is to get around the 1.5¢ mark
 
Awesome goal! Totally achievable after the pubescent hilarity of the instant torque eases off a bit, along with more use of Mid or Green. :cool: Plus if you can find a free L2 or DCFC charger near your regular routes, that will certainly help as well — I’ve been averaging about 10 KWh a week from a free 25 kW DC station at a nearby BMW store.

They’re not clamoring to come from Europe though, only third world countries…

What does this have to do with anything (especially with the topic of this thread)?? Many people who are "clamoring" to come to this country love their countries and don't want to leave. Many only do so because their lives are in danger--certainly not because of some kind of superior system of measurement!

Back to topic: I'm at 10,900 miles in exactly 14 months.

Since January 3 2022 I drive only 3524 miles and only home charging L2 paying nothing for electricity of advantage of Solar Panels .BA57BAED-9BC7-4B25-AE30-C8F49DC25E82.webp
