I can see it now, a letter directed to KentuckyKen from Honda:

Dear KentuckyKen,
We saw your post on insideevsforum.com and, unfortunately, must alert you to the fact that your vehicle has now been flagged by Honda America. As the result of your addition of approximately 1oz of "Stabil" to your fuel tank, we must now void any and all future claims including, but not limited to:
* Airbags
* Suspension components
* Entertainment system, including Honda navigation
* Hardware components
* All electronics
* EV battery & components

The addition of the Stabil may have a deleterious effect on the above components, as well as others, and thus we can not guarantee their safe operation.

Thank you for your purchase of a Honda Clarity. If we can be of further assistance in the future, please don't hesitate to contact us.

KentuckyKen, that’s why my name on this forum doesn’t give my real name or location lol
Shhhh! Loose lips sink ships.
It’s like the military’s don’t ask and don’t tell policy. But as the spy said, now that I’ve told you, I’ll have to kill you. Please PM me your preferred method of execution. (Homeland Security; I’m just kidding, please don’t put our forum on the Terrorist Watch List).

This guy usually has pretty good information on car care. In this video, he comments on how long you can keep gas in a tank:

If you believe this dude, then @KentuckyKen and his Stabil will get caught because the inside of his engine is NOT gunked up with varnish deposits and other crap...
Almost spilled the Stabil I was adding after my first out of town HV trip in 4 months laughing over this one. :)

5 oz of petroleum distillates in 7 gal of gasoline is undetectable (short of GC-Mass Spec or NMR or such tests highly unlikely to be used by Honda). Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it in my book. Any problems with gunk are cumulative and won’t show up for many years but on my budget I keep cars a long time. But I’m an edge case where I go months and months without HV ICE usage except for the seldom and short System Checks. YMMV

Has anyone thought about just siphoning the gasoline out of the Clarity after a couple of months for use in your lawn mower and snow blower? That's a way to keep the gasoline fresh without having to drive the ICE a lot (I still think starting the engine to operating temps every couple of weeks or so is a good idea). I really dislike transporting the gas can to and from the gas station so this seems to be a safer way of transporting gasoline home. Kill two birds with one stone. Does anyone know of a safe siphoning system so I don't make a mess?

Harbor Freight has some cheap solutions. But I bet this will screw up the HV range calculation and sounds like more trouble than it’s worth, but I guess then you wouldn’t have to buy any Stabil. Plus safety issues (definitely not inside the garage) and possibility of a part of your siphon device dropping in the tank or messing with the fuel level sender. I’d shy away from this but you may be more adventurous than I am. (Says the guy who long ago singed off both eyebrows with an alcohol backpacking stove. You don’t want to know how long it takes to grow them back!)
