Has software update reduced your Kona Electric range?

Depending on your computer, you could highlight the text and right click it for the action submenu and then print. It should only print the selected text.
That works. Right Click, Highlite and Print. Using a MacBook Air. I forgot about this. I use it all the time but I just didn't think of it. Thanks.

Domenik. I just want to Print a Reply from someone who sends me a reply. Just one reply. If I try to do it with my computers print command it wants to print out everything on the forum page not just the Single Reply I want to print. Thanks
KonaTom just gave me the answer. Right Click, Highlite Text I want to print and click on print. It works. Thanks

I bet this is correct, but there's even more to it. When you turn on air conditioning in a car, it's often uncomfortably hot, so you blast it, full blower and min temp. But you don't leave it like that. I find that at 30 C or so, the aircon on the Kona EV works great and keeps the cabin comfortable at the lowest blower setting with min temp. (And 4 bodies in the car, emitting 400 W of waste heat, as well as the sun shining on the vehicle.) So if you look at the Guess-O-Meter when the aircon is still blasting, you will be deceived. Some of the "lost" range is going to be regained when you get the car cooled off and select a less frigid setting after 5-10 minutes of full cooling.

Just my observation. And I'm happy with the weather lately, no complaints here about 30 C.
You are partly correct. If you use the auto setting, the car will actually anticipate that it will reach the temperature and then reduce. But if you turn auto off, it assumed that your settings will not change.

So basically, a higher current setting with auto will use less energy than a slightly lower permanent setting (no auto).

I experienced that exact behavior with the GOM.

You can adjust the percentage of charge in the center screen. Press the ev icon on the home screen then press charge management, then press charging limits. Finally select AC (or DC ) charging and adjust the limits up or down in 10 % increments. If I am using the car regularly I set it at 80%. During shelter in place I lower to 60 or 70 % based on how much driving I expect to do (not much). For long trips I will set it at 100%.
You can find this information in the Kona manuals that came with the car on page H-11
I finally had a chance to go out and check the charging limit. The DC and the AC were both set where I had them before the update - at 100% but the car was set for Winter Driving Mode which I never set. Either it was done by the dealer or it was done inadvertently by the update process. I have lived in Southern California all my life and we don't get winters. Our winter days might be in the 60's or low 70's. I unchecked the winter mode. Does anyone know what effect checking or unchecking it would have on the EV range, if any?

My GOM reading hasn't changed notably since the update: still hovering in the 285-290 mile range for a full charge. I'm in the middle of a mini-vacation and doing more driving -- and more highway driving -- than usual.

Umm, where is winter driving mode?

My range is fairly low lately due to heavy AC use and several high speed trips.. I'm only getting around 235 miles range @ 80% right now.

That's terrible! Get rid of the EV and get a gas guzzler! ... [emoji1787][emoji1787][emoji1787]

Of course I'm kidding! That's pretty amazing! Still more than the advertised 258!

A Kona Electric owner is in contact with InsideEVs and believes a recent battery management system (BMS) software update to their car may have reduced its range by about 25 miles.

We are trying to get more detailed info about their situation, but in the meantime I thought I'd reach out to here and see if anyone has experienced anything like this.
Given my experience,I would like to see Hyundai's response to InsideEVs. Wonder if they can ask why their dealerships don't appear to be able to print out vehicle scans.Pretty important with EVs since the tech.controls a majority of the Kona electric.
Just got it done this month with COVID19 re-openings. The BSM campaign installation didn't go well, got multiple errors.Dealership had to call Hyundai.
Did a 100% charge on AC,got 470km/292 miles. When I first got the Kona electric in spring 2019,I actually saw 509km/316miles.Pre doing the BMS campaign,I did have issues with my charging, and range during COVID19 stay at home periods that are still happening.I lost about 100km/62miles. Error code,my EPCU was replaced,3 components : inverter, LDC DC-DC converter,VCU .
Asked for DTC for the above, still waiting for them.Asked to have my Li-ion scanned to see if there's degradation, waiting on it also.

For the past 12 hours (possibly more) the light on the grill indicating that the battery saver is running has been on very frequently. More on than off. What the heck is going on? I'm going out soon to try to start it up to see if there's anything weird going on but the Bluelink health status says systems normal. It's not normal.

**Edit
Started the car up. Seemed fine. As usual, despite the"battery saver" light being on there was no icon on the dash indicating it. Like others I've never actually seen that message despite it being shown in the owner's manual.

A lot of the range changes pre & post BMS update could be put down to changes in driving patterns or environmental factors. Sixty-two miles, however, does seem pretty significant. Let us know how this all plays out for you

Before the recall work 100% would be 299-310 miles on the GOM and now after the service it’s 289 miles at 100%. Not really worried about it though

470km at 100% after a battery reset is normal, at least for moderate ambient temperatures. When I picked up my car new, and after this BMS update both...

The Date of my Last Charge was August 2, 2020, just before I joined this forum (and a few days after my Dealer installed the Battery Update ). That charge was 298 miles. Yesterday, August 27th, was the 1st time I charged my car since then. I plugged it in at 9pm and it charged all night until I unplugged it at 7am today. The mileage increased slightly to 303 miles and it was a 100% charge. Not a great improvement, but some. Because of the Covid-19 Lockdown, I haven't been driving much. All of my driving was done in the ECO Mode. How many more charging cycles do you think it will take to get me back up to 330 or more miles?
