Gas in Tank

I used to use Stabil stabilizer in the gas cans for my tractor. I found over time (months) it separates from the gas and lays in the bottom of the can. This probably isn't an issue in a vehicles fuel tank since the product and the gas are constantly being mixed as you drive. I switched Star Tron gasoline additive (by Star Tron). It stays mixed well and protects fuel up to 2 years, and it also eliminates carbon buildup in the fuel delivery system and exhaust components. I use Star Tron in my boat regularly and also put an ounce or two of Star Tron in my Prius Primes fuel tank from time to time, depending on how often we need to refill with gas.
 
Chiming in with something interesting I noticed on my drive home tonight. Would love some insight from other owners if they've encountered this before.

I was driving home when I glanced down at my instrument panel and noticed my entire drive ring was dashed white and it didn't say EV ready. I was at about 40-45% charge, and the temperature out was mid 70s so I believe the battery was in normal operating parameters. I'm pretty sure I didn't hit the detent in the pedal since this is the same route I always drive and I was doing about 40 during that part going downhill and not trying to accelerate too much. I probably went another 3 miles before the car swapped back over to normal EV drive mode and stayed that way for the rest of my drive.

My theory is that I think the car is programmed to run 2-3 miles of gas only mode after a certain amount of miles. I've had the car just barley over 2 months and the daily drive has all been within electric range - today I just passed 800 miles so maybe its around 800 or 2 months if the car hasn't used any gas?

Would love to know if anybody has seen this before. I don't know how the blue/white gauge changes (or if it does) if you accelerate into the white so there's a chance that maybe I did this on the uphill and it forced me into a full white.. but I've also seen that even in HV mode, a short part of the arc is blue.

Your theory is reasonable and agrees with one of the reasons stated on page 13 of the manual as to when the ICE will come on called a System Check.
I installed an hour meter to monitor when and how long my ICE runs for apparently no other reason than a System Check or the limited regen/full charge scenario. It seems to run as yours did; just long enough to reach operating temperature and then shut off. With no HV for the last 4 months, my ICE comes on briefly every few weeks to a month or so. The assumption is that the algorithm is keeping the engine lubricated and checking that it’s ready for use when needed.
So your experience seems like normal operation unless it happens excessively.
 
Great to know! My driving is very minimal (15 miles round mostly, sometimes 35) so I was planning on doing a purposeful HV drive to burn gas, but it seems like Honda has put enough thought into the unique circumstance I present as a driver and has planned for my ICE to run every so often to make sure the car stays optimal.
 
Probably a dumb question but does anyone know how many gallons are left when the low fuel light comes on. I'm not finding it in the manual (it just says to refill)
