Just a quick update FWIW, after some time, I found the Infinity door speakers too bright.

After more discussions with Crutchfield, now trying this speaker:

Kicker 44KSC6704 6-3/4" 2-way Speakers

First impressions are much better bass and midrange in comparison to the high end. Also, the sound settings seem to be more useful now to fine tune the three ranges.

Still less performance than if an amp and maybe even sub woofer were installed, but many times better than the stock speakers.

How difficult is it to remove the door panels? Any problems with rattling or squeeks after putting the doors back on?

Did you keep the tweeters in the A pillars hooked up? If so, you are running 2 sets of tweeters in the front. That's a lot of bright highs!

I'm upgrading the speakers on a 2019 touring, and hoping someone can provide more details on actually mounting the speakers to the door. Did you just drill new holes or somehow attach a backing plate? The plate that came with mine (6532ix pic attached) is different, so wondering if I got the wrong model? Lastly, did you use a baffle or sound deadening tape on the metal around and behind? thanks in advance for any help....

These are the parts I used for my first 2018, no drilling needed, they just fit in to the existing openings (Crutchfield). I think these types of parts are also on amazon or eBay.

BTW, not sure why anyone would need them, but I have a set of OEM 2018 speakers if anyone wants one or more later (at least for the cost of shipping).

Surprisingly, my second 2018 has a Much better sound, and for now, I am leaving it alone.

Thanks for the info. Impatience got the better of me, and I wound up customizing the OEM mounts, which turned out fairly well I think. For anyone interested in going that route, some pics are attached of the process. The good news is that the Infinity speakers did clear up the muddy midrange, but at the expense of the bottom end. As small as those magnets were on the OEMs, they actually had decent bass. Rather than try different speakers or put in a sub-woofer, I'm thinking of putting some heavy bass woofers in the back doors. Am I nuts, or might that work? Any suggestions on 6.5" speakers with heavy bass?

OK, now I've gone completely nuts and ordered a pair of Pyramid WX65X 6-1/2" Subwoofers. Ridiculously cheap at $30 for the pair including delivery, but great reviews. Will report back in a couple weeks when I get them installed.

Do you remember the wire colors of the rear door speakers? Picking up an Infinity Basslink this afternoon. Not looking to replace the rear door speakers the moment but hoping to trace the wire from inside the car to tap in for the subs. Installed some JL C1 up front last week, I can't say that I love it but it's definitely an improvement.

OK, so those Pyramid speakers were complete garbage - a convincing argument that online reviews are suspect at best. I'm leaving the OEM speakers in the rear and just live with it for now. May add a sub at some point, but no hurry. Just driving it is pure pleasure enough.
