Floor Mats- What fits?

I just received the now "standard" email from Weathertech that their custom floor liners should be available in 8-10 weeks. ;) Not to be cynical, but since they have been saying that for several months, I suspect they may consider the market too small to do the R&D for the Clarity. If they are not available by this fall, I'll go with the Tuxmats.

Weathertrick didn't even pretend they were going to ever make mats for my 2000 or 2006 Insights when I inquired. I'm sure you're correct that they'll wait and see how large the Clarity PHEV population grows.
 
I know that weathertech has not produced the mats for the clarity but has anyone tried their AVM mats? These are trim to fit mats. It's cheaper than the floorliner mats.

I don’t know about use in the Clarity and they may work well. But, I bought a set of those for an older CR-V a couple years ago and they didn’t fit right. Even with careful trimming I was concerned about pedal interference and with their winter “slush-holding” ability.
 
I’m giving WeatherTech (or WeatherTrick as insightman aptly calls them) till Thanksgiving and then I’m ordering the Tuxmats before the slush hits. It’s my first new car in 30 years and I want to keep it nice for at least a couple of years.
 
Tuxmat offers free shipping, but only within Canada. They quoted me a very reasonable shipping charge of $14.54 USD for shipping to the US, subject to slight variations in the exchange rate at the time the order is placed.

Hi Ken

Gotta say that the Tuxmats are an excellent fit and I am sure they will do great in winter - they are high up - tight fit and have a place for your left foot; the back piece covers the whole floor including hump.. comfortable on the feet too. I have had weathertech on a Volvo V50 and the fit was mediocre and did not fully protect the floor during winter... YMMV (and they are ALL made in Chine :-) )

Thanks JohnT, you may have sold me on the TuxMat. The ones for my son’s Tacoma were good but not as perfect a fit as I remember WeatherTech used to be. Could you post a picture of the driver’s mat?
 
Whoops, no need to post pix John. I just saw the pix posted previously. Wow, that’s not a lip on the driver’s mat, it’s the Great Wall of China!
I’m pulling the trigger on these.
Now if Honda would actually ship come Claritys to Canada, they would make a lot of money.

Just got my tuxmats which I haven't installed yet. The instructions mention a retention hook (provided) and ring. I don't see a hole ring in the mats. Am I missing something? I don't see it in bbb0bbb pictures. How many and where do the side clips go? I got sku 420.

Oh, I see the 420 in the pictures so I guess I got the right ones.

I got the tux mats (and retired the Honda all weather mats, for the reasons described: side walls too low esp. for slush season). Don’t anticipate any such problem with the tuxmat, which I really like.

There is only one retention hook, intended for drivers side mat. The “hole ring” I believe is the grommet through which the retention clip passes, already installed in the drivers mat, and through which you need to mark the position for the retention hook.

There doesn’t seem to be any specific plan for the side clips—I just put them near every corner, especially areas that seemed like high stress or that were “tongues” of mat, until I ran out and no issues since.

I added them after taking the pictures. I can post new ones. The hooks helps for some areas, but are not required.

Too bad they don’t have actual pics of the floor liners. Also, although the rears aren’t available yet, you only save about $10 to wait buy them together.

Darn, I just received my tuxmats. I think the weathertech is a little more expensive. So which is better? The weathertech look harder. The tuxmats look like there is more coverage but the weathertech pictures might not be representative of the actual mats. Don't think I would replace the tuxmats with weathertech. Please post pictures when someone gets them.
 
I've been using Weathertech for years. Since they were not available, and based on what I read here, I bought the tuxmats. While they are substantially more work to install, I am very pleased with them. I like the way they tuck behind and underneath edges everywhere, they completely protect all areas, more than I have seen with weathertech. There are quite a few retention clips that help hold them in place everywhere. Once they are in, they will not move or let dirt in over the edges, they are solidly in place. They even tuck in under the front edge of the rear seats. The downside is you can't easily pull them out to clean them like you can with weathertech, it would take more work to pull them out and put them back in.
