Extended warranty for a ’22 SE?

My manufacturer's warranty will expire this December and I'd love to hear perspectives from other owners on this board regarding purchasing an extended warranty.

FYI: I did do a search on this topic, and the only relevant thread I found was from 2022, and it had only one actual reply, so I'm hoping I can spark a more lively conversation now.

I have a note out to my dealer to get costs and details on what would be covered—I'll share that info here as soon as I receive it—but what I'm seeing online is that costs through Mini can range from $1,300 - $1,600 per year of added coverage. I drive about 6,000 miles per year and, if I were to go ahead with an extended warranty, I'm thinking a max of two additional years because I'm fairly certain I'll be ready to move on from the car by then.

Alternatively, if anyone has purchased an extended warranty through a third-party, any suggestions on good providers would be greatly appreciated. MarketWatch recommends Endurance and Carchex, but I don't know how trustworthy their guidance is in the automotive space.

There is very little that needs to be done with the SE. My 2021 SE is at 116,000 miles and I had a rear wheel bearing go bad, plus the rewiring from when mice chewed my charging wiring. I doubt either of those are covered by warranty. Only regular maintenance I need are to replace my tires, cabin filter, and wiper blades. And occasional wheel alignment.

I thought that I'd seek input again regarding an extended warranty for the SE. I suspect that few have decided to commit to the rather large annual expense. MINI does offer an ELECTRIC vehicle plan but the cost does not appear to differ much from the ICE versions. FYI, 5-years, 60,000 miles runs over $2,000 annually. It does include 24-hour roadside assistance, towing assistance, flat tire assistance (using the vehicle's spare!), minimal rental car allowance, and trip interruption benefit ($200 per day). However, the fun read in the Vehicle Service Contract is the "Exclusions from Coverage."

My take is that I'll "self insure" since my household's use of the SE is largely local with an occasional 100 mile trip. (We are also leasing a 2025 Countryman SE All4.) Unlike Puppethead's SE, our 2022 has had an easy life with only 18,000 over four years of enjoyable driving. Because there's nothing like it on the road (or coming soon for purchase/lease in the US), my wife and I are hoping for many, many more fun drives . . .
