It depends what mode you drive. The detente only impedes ICE activations in Eco mode. In Normal or Sport, you can activate the Ice without passing the detente.I've had my 2018 Clarity for just a couple weeks now and I have yet to feel a click in the peddle, or any sensation when pressing far enough to engage ICE.
Is this a feature that can be turned off, or is mine just not working?
Input appreciated.
The engine stays on at least long enough to get warmed up. Honda didn't want the engine frequently starting and stopping without giving the oil a chance to warm up. You can defeat the engine-protecting warm-up interval by pulling over, shutting off the car and starting it again. This procedure is not recommended.Next wondering is when will it return to EV, or is it locked in the rest of the driving session?

Some posters on this forum believe you can return to EV Drive mode by selecting HV Mode and then deselecting it, but that's not my experience.
I tried to explain the modes in this long post.
