Just to be clear, as long as you stay away from Ann Arbor in your SE until after I get mine, I'm rooting for you and everyone who ordered one to get theirs ASAP. Seeing one on the road before mine arrives will cause me some grief, but I'll rationalize that that SE was one that came in as a spec model, not one that someone configured and ordered.
In January I was quick enough to get onto the list to receive one of the first 200 MINI Cooper SEs brought to the US in March, but the Moonwalk Grey one I was offered from that first shipment had a white top and I want a black top, so I passed, thinking another month's wait would be bearable. I don't regret my decision, but I wish I could learn what logistics problem really pushed my car so far back in the delivery queue. I'm sure there's a simple, but perhaps embarrassing, explanation.
Today, the ASKMINI rep called me back after "investigating" my case. He said that he called the Regional Sales Manager in my area to find out if he was aware of my situation. Evidently, he didn't consider that the two dealerships trying to get my MINI Cooper SE to me might have called their Regional Sales Manager already. The ASKMINI rep said the Regional Sales Manager told him that he was aware of my situation. So much for the investigation. Then the ASKMINI rep went through the standard "you know there's a coronavirus situation that's reducing the number of vessels" song and dance. I said I understood that but other MINI Cooper SE cars built after mine are already in the US. Then he speculated that perhaps those SEs went to a different destination port than mine. I told him that the already-arrived cars also went to the Baltimore POA. With nothing left to say, he promised to call me back within 2 or 3 weeks if there was no action on shipping my SE.
