Not sure why mini garage site does not show 2 ports (UK and USA).
It's kind of weird, but the tracker retrogrades. You'll see Port->Transit->Port->Transit->Dealer. The first transit is across the ocean, the second one is from debarkation port to dealer over land.

Answer: Terrible designer(s). And why can't the graph have as up-to-date info as My Garage? Do the My Garage staffers control the graph and purposely make it less current to make themselves more important? It makes no sense to force people to make a phone call to learn what's really happening after becoming frustrated with a poorly designed bar graph that depicts obsolete data.

Well maybe not. Dealer said it was in USA. I called mini and they said it was at port in UK. Seems like my garage site should have 2 port updates, it just has the one and next update is on the way to the dealer. Nice

Mine is still at the port too. Maybe we will be on the same boat! I am over in Ohio, basically on the way to Chicago from the coast…

Such small cars must travel together. Strength in numbers :)

I think they bring the cars for the Midwest in through Baltimore. The next ship into Southampton bound for Baltimore is the K-line ship Donington scheduled to dock the morning of Oct 28. That’s the one I think mine will go on, but mine goes one stop further down the coast to Brunswick, GA.

My SE to Minneapolis was offloaded in Baltimore. If you can get the Vehicle Inquiry Report from your motoring advisor it has the destination port in the upper right corner. Mine said "BALPOA" for Baltimore.

Picked up my Mini today. Wife had never been in any Mini, much less driven one. She already loves it! I got to drive it first when we did a test drive. She drove second and also home from the dealer. AND has claimed it for primary commuting! Knew she would. I don't really drive that much during the week anyway since I work from home.

Wife took the long way home. Between that, the long test drive and the drive home from the dealer, it returned home at 59% charge. My 24 foot charge cord doesn't QUITE make it to the port with the care "head in" to the driveway. Needs like a foot more. But works easily backed in, and it is small enough that there seems to be enough room for getting in and out even backed in (stupid fence).

They sure drag out things at the dealer upon delivery and purchase. Got there for our 9:30 am appointment and didn't leave until just before 12:30!

It took six hours to get my first MINI back in '15. I am not looking forward to picking up my new one soon. Just give me the effing car!

Do you mean "now looking forward"? I ordered before production began, waited 51 weeks and I'll say it again: this car is worth the wait.

Congrats! I was told mine should be in Tacoma by next Thursday/Friday - why three hours(?) thats kind of overkill...

There were no negotiations, really. The price was the price and we got the top-tier financing through BMW (probably could have done half a point better with one of my Credit Unions). There was a lot of chatting. Showing my wife the car. Filling out the credit app. Having to talk to some insurance guy who is British and talkative. My wife is talkative. Waiting for the finance guy to be ready. Having to listen to him pitch extended warranty and all kinds of other add on services that I can't believe anyone would pay for. Finance guy working with a new contract system (we were the second sale for the dealership using it apparently). And that time included our 30 minute "test" drive before we left. So I wasn't trying to push things along and a lot of chatting went on.

Awesome, that is a huge relief. Having never purchased a new car before, I have just had visions of long negotiations on dealer fees document fees etc etc since the actual MSRP negotiations were, well, non-existent. Good to know it’s paperwork etc and not haggling. Haggling is a bit antiquated if you ask me.

Thanks for the feedback @Teddydogno1

Just remember, you can say "NO." There will be things that you have to pay for (various state taxes, stamp fees, registration fees, etc.), but you can say "NO" to things they might try to add on at the last minute. Extended warranties, gap insurance (maybe you need it, maybe you don't), service plans, Scotchguard for your fabric, window tinting, alarm system. You don't have to take any of that if you don't want it. If your dealership tries to pressure you into something, gather your stuff and quietly walk out.

But, having said all of that, I doubt you'll have any problems. I've bought or been involved in buying 6 new cars in my life and the experience has gotten better each time. The last time was at a Buick/GMC dealer and I was in and out in 90 minutes and I wasn't even prepared to buy a car that day. They got the paperwork ready while I cleaned out my old car.

Re GAP insurancee. BMW adds 2% to the face of the loan. Credit union I used adds 1.5%. Insurance company charges something like $20 a year.
Question: MSRP is say 35,000, finance 35,000 and take the car and papers for your CPA home. Three months later when 34,000 is owed car gets totalled. How much with GAP does insurance pay?

Think about it.

Picking up my wife's Tesla was the best experience: in and out in 15 min. Everything is automated, but the agent was nice enough to come over and help us.
